a little on the short side, but for such a low price its a nice little story, even if some of the messages its trying to tell you are somewhat difficult to understand

unfortunately, so, so much jank
a lot of this review is judged based off of a single campaign mission, while you can say i havent given the game a good chance, the gameplay was enough to turn me off from giving this a positive review

at times i was stuck on "starting a session" being completely unable to actually play the campaign, there is very little tutorial on actually what the controls are or how to even adjust the sight so that you can actually range in targets, the "tips" while loading were so poorly formatted that i think they basically just used a machine translator but it ends up looking very messy to even read

when turning the tank, the hull indicator on the bottom left doesnt actually move at all, only the turret moves making it quite confusing to orient your tank accurately

its an odd mix of semi-realism, selecting the sim-mode option doesnt feel really different in comparison to that of just using the other aside from the removal of some ui elements, you're still completely free to use a third person view and are free to choose to not button down, making it kind of pointless to try and use your binoculars

theres very little point in using interior view, which sucks because i would love to actually be seated inside a tank

from the first mission i experienced, it seems that the game has outstandingly poor optimisation and unfortunately a lack of direction

its tugging at two entirely different philosophies of "tank-sim" and "tank-arcade", unfortunately faltering at both

theres probably a lot more jank, but i cant be assed to play something so half-baked
sorry, if you're looking for a realistic tank game, pass on this until the game figures out what direction it wants to go in and some significant bugfixes and changes are made

its great and an overall improvement in comparison to the browser version, but theres some oddities between this version and the browser version

in the post-battle summary, calling in *more* fire support missions is highlighted in green, in the browser versions it is actually considered a bad thing to call in more fire support missions

does this affect bonus xp gained? i have no idea\
it might also apply to the amount of soldiers lost too, but i wasnt paying attention to that

regarding the battle of the bulge campaign, while it is nice, its a bit odd not being able to pick your sides, in addition, the white star (which comes with the bonus of a lieutenant buffing allied soldiers) is very hard to actually see against the snowy background, it would be nice to have this changed to a more solid black border

additionally, it is *way* too easy to steamroll the bulge campaign, i only had a few minor hiccups because of tanks but theres no real sense of difficulty on hardened, on the missions where you are supposed to defend an objective, it is way too easy to just bypass the entire defensive part entirely via overwhelming the opposing side with enough infantry

one more criticism that i have is that its extremely difficult to select a unit while they are stacked up on one another in 1944 and the bulge campaign, trying to select an officer to call in artillery is hard if it is also surrounded by infantry

temu ready or not

i love it when people bleed when i hit them with a beanbag shotgun

suspect ai is very goofy, you can catch them by suprise and shout at them but more often than not theyll just turn around and shoot you anyway

doing the same with the beanbag shotgun is far more unreliable than it should be

gameplay feels awfully slow, while i understand movement is supposed to be slow, it shouldnt take me a snails pace to move somewhere while the enemy ai zips across any room within seconds

there isnt a "low-ready" or "high-ready" position, theres only a "sprint" which obscures a lot more of your vision than there should

a lot of unnecessary junk looks like, sound design feels weak with hardly any noticeable footsteps

heavy and light armor hardly make a difference, though light armour allows you to move faster than the turtle when they were racing against the rabbit

oddly for some reason you cant combine helmet options, while you can equip NVGs you cant stack them with a gasmask, this is very odd, especially since the current demo map has a random chance for it to be night time or day time

the sight pictures on pretty much any sight are very unclear

gunplay feels extremely arcadey, theres no suppression to speak of

i love the concept, i really do, but i unfortunately cant say anything too positive about this

mud and blood on the steam page has a lot of better QOL changes, being able to synchronise movements, sound quality is also better in mud and blood, and while fighting the ♥♥♥♥ is fun and all, i expected something a lot more from this

id be happy to give it another shot if more QOL changes were made, like having a tactical view to show which terrain gives cover, more tooltips to describe what effects are my soldiers are under, transparency on some terrain obstacles to make locating soldiers easier, better user interface in the campaign (it is a little confusing to navigate at times), correct and proper weapon sprites on soldiers so that i can tell at a first glance what they're using (while different weapon sprites exist for the M19A4, other weapon sprites seemingly just dont exist) and an ingame glossary or something like that just to view the different stats of stuff like weapons and whatnot

vpet simulator is the best virtual pet there is on the steam shop right now, it is a little rough around the edges especially with the english translations, but it is still a great pet to have around your computer, has a lot of features and settings you can toy around with, steam workshop support is also great

UPDATE: desktop mate has basically killed support for modding at the moment, there is a solution to it somewhere in the reviews section, but other than that theres very little point of using desktop mate

lacking in interactions but graphically superior to that of v-pet simulator, which is the other desktop pet software you can get on the steam store

with mods you can mod in pretty much any character you can get on the v-droid page, which is neat

in terms of actual functions, theres not much aside from an alarm and being able to set your desktop pet on a window (though, it is slightly buggy if you use multiple desktops on windows)

you can also scale the pet up and down to your liking, which is nice

other than that, theres not much to say other than it does pretty much the bare minimum that a desktop pet should do

v-pet simulator has more functionality to it, so use that if you care about that
if you only care about having your waifu on your desktop, desktop mate easily wins
