One of the most memorable, challenging, and fun games I've ever played in my life. I must stress that I was 100% keen for this game for a long time. However, I was never going to buy it if it had that rotten Denuvo crap, which is the devil's stinky excrement. Luckily, it doesn't!!!

The game itself is grueling, but in the most delightful way. You will die many, many times. But if you're like me, you will find this entertaining. You will see some people complaining that it's to hard; I don't like this criticism!!

It's sad when Devs buckle under preassure from your Candy Crush sookie la-la type panzies asking to make the game a walk in the park. Brigador faced a lot of criticism for the game being to hard, now it's so ridiculously easy, it's not really fun. But Cuphead did not buckle under any talk of it being too hard, which is great! It's actually not really that hard, it just requires patience, but this trait is lacking in dimwitted people who want things quick and easy. At the end of the day, the difficulty of the game has been designed masterfully.

The graphics are amazing. There's no other game that does what this game does graphically. I don't know why Disney isn't paying the devs $10 Billion to work on some games using a similar animation style.

Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend this game at full price!! The Delicious Last Course, exceeded all my expectations, this game is one of the greatest ever made :cuphead:

Awesome game!!

It's hard to strike the balance between getting a good pixelated/retro look and getting this to look nice on modern PCs. I can say that on a 4k display, full screen, it's perfect!

The gameplay is gruelling, and unforgiving, especially when you make a lot of progress and end up dying. However, the good thing is just playing the game allows you to level up and unlock things which help you progress to advanced levels. I think this system strikes the perfect balance between challanging gameplay and playability.

Just love the fast pace action of this game, and all the power ups and variety of enemies. It seems like the dev of this game thought carefully about the underlying game mechanic, and it really has payed off. I should warn; it's a highly addictive game!

There are a few glitchy moments where the game switches from fulll screen to window mode and back, but these only occur when a level is completed, in between levels or accessing the menu. These glitches don't actuallly occur in-game.

I recomend buying this game at full price, it's well worth it. Very solid game design, and a masterpiece in my view.

Pros
  • Great graphics.
  • Car handling seems realistic.
  • Lots of content and unlockables.

Cons
  • No acheivements.
  • If you don't use an EA account to login it will ask you upon starting the game. But you don't actually need one, if you ignore this prompt your progress will still be saved to Steam cloud.

Overall
I think this is a great NFS title that others who have enjoyed previous games in the series will enjoy.

If you've played the original PS1 version and are hoping that the HD REMASTER improves on the experience, you won't be disappointed. The puzzles and game mechanic are what do it for me. The horror aspect of the game combined with trying to survive while solving puzzles will make you jump out of your seat at times. I also like the fact that you must tactically manage your save game ink ribbons, herbs, and weaponry otherwise you'll need to start the game from scratch; this enhances the immersion of the game.

What is a shame is that games in this genre now are so dumbed down, boring, and way too easy -- they are more like 'choose your own adventure' interactive movies than actual games, which sucks hard. I really wish there was a brand new Resident Evil based on the formula used in the original: the game is a masterpiece.

There are many "HD" or revived versions of old games on Steam that taint any fond memories of the original. AOEII is one of the rare few that has received the proper treatment to make it a very good HD release.

The focus of this review isn't the game itself but rather the remake. The work gone into making AOEII-HD compatible with modern machines has paid off. It has stayed true to the original, but has improved support for HD resolutions (there are 4k issues but they can be overcome).

Online Multiplayer is also works a treat. The system here is much better than AOEIII because you can just jump right in without having to fuss and create an Ensemble studios account like in AOEIII, which is an unnecessary annoyance.

Lastly, this game still worked on and regularly updated. Thanks Guys! If you get it on sale along with the expansions you'll have tons of content to keep you going for....ages

Pros:
-Original Charm of the game preserved.
-Value for money. There's tons of content.
-Works well on modern machines. No irritating driver issues.
-Multiplayer performance very reliable.

Con:
-Keeping track of campaign progress can be a bit confusing.
-Bit of mucking around to get it to work properly at 4k resolution.

Areas of future improvement:
-The ability to zoom in and out of the screen using the mouse scrollwheel would be awesome.
-Native 4k support without having to play with settings outside the game, eg. compatibility modes, etc.

Final thoughts:
Great game, highly recommend.
