Space Expedition is a short 2D platformer set in space with horror-esque deep, mysterious atmospehere, a little reminding of deep space franchise, in which we explore a planet called Spectrum on which a members of space station has disappeared. As an anonymous astronaut, we explore the fauna and flora of this planet as well as discover what happened to the people exploring this planet before us, as well as what caused the disaster, that ended so many lives.

Gameplaywise its basically a rooms based platformer, with fixed camera, that only moves when we move from one room to another. This art direction creates an easier way for game developers to suprise us, and they truly do. From some unfair obstacles that lie in wait for us, till we move to the certain room, unaware of what may happen (these imo were not required to be in this game and just annoy me as they tend to cut from the immersion), to more clever, atmospheric scripted sections that build immersion in player who consumes this story. Sometimes game breakes this camera angle to give us, the one that follows the player, to build up the tension when something happens, hooking gamer even more. This is not the only thing devs prepared for us in this short, yet gripping adventure. From time to time we get new mechanic, even if its for very short time, one room/screen even. And almost all of these mechanics are fun. The only one i actually disliked was diving in one of the game sections, maybe because the instructions were unclear for me, or maybe its a game fault by its own, idk, but that one felt a tiring to me and slowed the pace a bit too much in my opinion. However mostly these changes makes us addicted in the end, as we expect something new to happen relatively quickly. There are also hidden collectibles scattered across this short title, and unfortunately, its one of THOSE games. To reach the true ending, you have to collect all 9 of them. Although this amount is tiny, there are extremely well hidden, so much so, i accidentally, during the entire playthrough found just 2 of them!

However you can still enjoy the game, if you like to for example, dont care about the story and just focus on absorbing the audiovisual side of things, you found a right place, as this game is beautiful. Background sprites are detailed and colorful with match well, with contradicting, purely black foreground. That doesnt mean everything in the foreground is in shades of black. Our main protagonist hemlet, as well as key parts of the game like bodies, enemies, important objects or some of the obstacles are colorful as well and that contradiction, really suits this game well. Speaking of obstacles and background, Lighting effect used in this game is great, from squarely sparkles on destroyed mechanisms to bolts of light, this is just astonishing! The only mediocre thing on that side, in my opinion is sound design. It does its job well, but ambient is not really a type of music, that is easy to make it memorable most of the time, and this one is an example how difficult it actually is.

In the end for an over 10 years old mobile game, it defends itself well in a pc enviroment (which is rare for early android titles) And you, dear reader of this review, go ahead and try it as although its not flawless, it is an overall a pretty solid amount of fun!
