Even Aussies don't want to live here.

This game is like Australia; everything wants to kill you.

The only thing that kept me playing for 160 hours is the massive serotonin hit that comes from seeing a dump become something you wished you lived in. However, this game is way too below average in development to be given a positive review.

The UIX is the most horrid I've come across in gaming for decades, with absolutely no thought put into it in regards to design or organisation. The preset paint colours, wallpapers, panels are barely enough for a demo. Worst of all, the house renovating part of the game is minimal. You'll spend far more time decorating the rooms, than fixing them. To add to that imbalance, devs have released a Pets DLC. That's right; pets in a house renovating game.

It's not completely surprising though. This is another game that's been overrun by children wanting to play dollhouse. Therefore the community is not a place you'll want to visit for help or mature conversation.

HF is not even worthy of early access. Missions are limited with no real story or business aspect.
Workshop mods are fine for decorative objects, but there is no integration for wallpapers and tiles.

Not worth even 1/2 the asking price and DLC's worth even less with Luxury DLC being the only one I'd recommend.

Best "experience" since Journey.

I'm not only a cat-lover but I adopted a real life stray two years ago, so of course I am biased, but I think anyone that loves cats will love this game.

I'm only giving this a negative rating from the perspective of an experienced programmer. For noobs to programming, it would probably be enjoyable, but if you have experience, you'll find the coding too boring and there's not much else to the game. Only buy on sale, if you dare.

Noobs, ignore this review because you'd probably have a lot more fun and sense of achievement.

Think carefully before taking the word of bad reviews. A lot of kids buy this game to play with the cutesy animals without realising that first and foremost, this is a building game. They struggle with creativity, imagination, problem solving and can't even put blocks together in Tetris. Then they write a bad review because they've spat the dummy. Do yourself a favour and check out the top-rated items in the Workshop to see what can be built if you're beyond the IQ of a 10-year-old. Also watch tutorials and zoo showcases on YouTube.

I will say this though; the engine is horrid. It runs on DX11, so any "grand" ideas you have will bog the game down to potato level. It doesn't matter how good your PC is. This will never improve for the life of the game and there's still a number of bugs to tolerate as well. It's a shame because the concept is great, just executed so poorly. Furthermore, DLC's are getting weaker as Frontier seems to only listen to little kids by focusing way too much on creating reskinned animals (basically like pretty clothes for Lara Croft) instead of actual game-play dynamics. Prehistoric Kingdom is going to destroy this game. Such a waste.

Oh, and the community has an average IQ of 10 and are as toxic as hell. The forum is riddled with 10-year-olds and a handful of creepy old men.

Early Access Review
I'll start mining this iron ore and then I'll go to bed.
Hmmm, I should start making copper wire, but then I'm definitely going to bed.
I better make sure they get stored, but then I'm definitely going to bed... promise.
I better add more power, but then I'm definitely, absolutely, going to bed! Promise x 10.
I just have to add some splitters, but then I'm DEFINITELY, ABSOLUTELY, going to bed... promise... times infinity... +1!!!

Short but fun. Pretty, artistic story-telling with a beautiful soundtrack.

I wish this game was around before I blew up the neighbourhood when I built my first PC in real life.

Buy this game if you don't want to blow up your neighbourhood.
