Early Access Review
An immediate favorite as a guy who's always looking for games with fun melee gameplay, and it is extremely fun, every single hit feels good to land, combos are fun and smooth to pull off once you learn them.
Variety of weapons, and even variety between each weapon, is super solid and more are added.
Every class feels very different and offers unique playstyles, or different difficulties.
Bonus shoutout to the Berserker class that starts with a giant sword called Hundred Man Slayer, which is actually my favorite. It's so slow that you can easily, and it's even encouraged to, swing manipulate your sword with your aim to hit more enemies, or to hit them faster

For the visual design, you might at first glance think the artstyle is ugly, as many people do, but don't forget how well it serves the gameplay. Enemies, traps and projectiles stand out from things excellently well. I have never died because I couldn't tell what something was. Enemy silhouettes are great and recognizable and the stand-out colors complement them amazingly well. Maybe only clarity problem is sometimes not knowing where the exact line is with floor spikes where you can stand before your toes get poked

As of now, my only real complaints are very small, such as the blood pools not being a very fun mechanic, or that i wish there was a bigger variety of character skills and weapon / armor skills. Seeing as the game is updated fairly frequently with content, most likely over time even that won't be a problem anymore

9.9/10
When I get into the zone with combos during Trial of Resolve it's the most fun I've had with melee in a videogame
I bought this game for 15€ from a small sale, and I feel like I robbed the dev. I can't recommend this game enough to anyone looking for good melee based games. Now I just wait for more classes and weapons. If there's potentially a mod support later in the future with chance to download more classes and weapons from the community, that would solidify this as an all-time favorite I'll go back to for years to come, but I'm thinking of an utopia situation. I feel like the game is already so good I couldn't be seriously asking for so much more

still, I wish blood pools didn't ruin my untouchable challenges anymore :(
