This is by far the most infurating game I have ever played, the combat is stiff, slow and unsatisfying, the speech system is basically throwing dice and hoping you got it and the saving system is the worst one ever invented. Whoever's responsible for saving being an expensive consumable should get slapped in the ankles

The combat is directional with five different directions to swing from, and you have to combo based on these directions, but it's extremely slow, feels super stiff and hitting an enemy with a sword has the visual and audio effects of hitting them with a styrofoam bat. It's everything but fun

In speech you supposedly have to see who you're talking to, and based on that try to pick the correct speech choice of either charisma, nobility or being a rude buff dude, but it never felt that way. I managed to persuade royal guards with a nobility level of 2, but i couldn't threaten a peasant with a strength level of 7

The game saves in key points of quests, like starting them, but if you want to save any other time besides exit saving you have to use these expensive and rare to find consumables called saviour schnapps, and since they're that way you of course don't want to spend them constantly, however this just caused me to lose over an hour of progress in a quest after i died to a bug where my character kept just tripping over the ground non-stop in combat. Think I went under the ground for a few seconds there too. This wouldn't have been so bad if I didn't lose a bunch of progress where I'd now have to repeat a lot of boring walking

If I have anything good to say about the game it's the dialogue and the characters, so far they've all been really fun. So basically the cutscenes in this game are the only good part for me. Guess I'll watch a movie of this game instead of actually playing it

TL;DR
Second worst game I've ever played and definitely the biggest disappointment of one I've ever experienced. Boring gameplay that punishes you for anything you do accompanied by the most awful saving system I've ever seen. I regret paying 10€ for this and I don't think I'll be able to put myself through even getting equal amount of hours out of it
2/10

The thing is, that this isn't a game where you get to choose who you are. You're Henry. Henry is shit at everything. But he doesn't have to be. I think others have mentioned everything else I would mention.

A few others told me about the alchemy already, I plan on doing that when I get back to the game at some point, but the issue with combat for me is that it feels very unsatisfying, the hits don't 'feel' good. I still kept winning most of the time, with just having to spend some bandages, but when winning just felt like I tired them out instead of killing them, it didn't keep my interest up for long

You'll want to learn to read too. Go to Uzhitz as soon as you can and visit the scribe there. I think its 50 or 60 gold. You can then read the recipe book at the alchemy station and also read skill books for free levels.

You can save whenever you want by sleeping. Seriously. The bed on the right at the millers in rattay is yours. Sleep and save is an option. Any inn. Rent the room for the night, 2 gold, save your game. I only use schnapps before i try some bullshit that will get me in trouble. Or make them, alchemy is super fun and you can have unlimited saves that way. And fighting is way easier once you get some levels in it. And use the bow as much as possible.

People seem to be confident that I'm just bad when I didn't even saying anything about losing in combat, I just said it felt unsatisfying, because the visual and sound effects weren't very satisfying, and that it felt slow because I had to wait for my stamina to regen half the fights. I still won the fights, I just didn't have fun when I did

You can try to meet the npc that teach you how to fight, I didn't enjoy the fighting system at first until I found him and free fight with him with unlimited time and no damage receive, It is basically the place to practice how to fight. I know how the fighting system work right now and really enjoyed it. Also gain skill exp during training.

I didn't really want to do much shady business on my first go, so I wasn't going to steal much stuff, I had planned that for a second playthrough.

I might give this game a new go at some point in the future, I should definitely at least give that brewing stuff a go. When I do I'll delete and remake the review with the new viewpoints

vitality is the easiest stat to level up. whenever you sprint or jump you get xp for vitality. do it.

pick herbs, learn to read in uzhitz and profit from alchemy. saviour schnapps is a potion you can brew yourself in practically unlimited numbers. and there of course is the mod scene which handled saving.

everything you do nets some experience in stats or skills. running, talking, riding horse, picking flowers, reading books not just skillbooks but normal books too, training with Bernard any weapon will earn xp for defence if you defend, xp for the weapon of choice, as well as strength or agility based on the weapon, then vitality as part of the combat. start with wood.

go with Peshek's plan. he introduces you to the shady side of economy.
don't rush it and you'll get there. if you ever played Oblivion or better Morrowind, you should know how to KCD.

i'm on 350hrs and still having a blast. performance wise i can't complain, runs smooth and nice for me using tweaks and some mods.
