I have never played a Devil May Cry game, and from what I understand a lot of DmC fans were deeply disappointed in this reboot. The criticisms they have of it seem fair - especially about the overly edgy protagonist Dante and his edgy mcedgyton brother Vergil.

While Dante certainly wasn't a very fun character (I was sort of hoping he'd become funnier as the game progressed) he's not completely terrible. I never found myself cringing at his emo edgyness, and some of the lines he had were decently funny. A lot of jokes fall flat because they consist mainly of variations on "♥♥♥♥ you." The story isn't amazing, typical evil dude running the world and you have to take him out. I do think it does a good job of setting up future game stories without a ridiculously stupid cliffhanger or anything. It reveals something, resolves it temporarily, and sort of lets it be.

The gameplay is where I had quite a bit of fun. The action starts out reeeeaaallllyy simplistic, but once you get the scythe it all sort of starts to make sense. The fun comes in mixing and matching the various weapons together for good combos. Each creature has a weakness for you to exploit, and some are more obvious than others. For example there were these ninja dudes who I had NO idea, until the last level of the game, were incapable of blocking the axe thingy. I had completely switched to the fists and thought the axe was useless until I realized that. Of course you can't just use the axe on them though because it's slow, first you have to catch them off guard with something else. The same thing applies to a lot of the battles - you find new combinations as you play and it continues like that until the very end. Hell, in the very final boss fight I discovered a new way to use a weapon I thought I had figured out.

One thing about the combat that sort of fell flat was the enemies which REQUIRED you to use either an Angel or Demon weapon. I can see how that introduces challenge in fights where there's more than one enemy but it still felt extremely cheap. There'd be a red enemy that I can only use the fists or axe on, so I would just spam one of those until it was dead. No fun or strategy in it, just a huge annoyance. It became especially annoying when certain enemies would simply become ghosts if you weren't holding down the left or right trigger. Really?

That said I enjoyed the combat all the way through, and the boss fights were decent as well. I thought the next-to-last boss was a bit stupid because he took up so much of the screen that dodging all of his attacks were nearly impossible, so you just had to get lucky. The raptor news boss fight was the best though - it was funny and well designed. It was by far the most creative fight in the game.

Overall I would recommend this game, especially if it's on sale. It's a solid game with some good design. If you can forgive the edgyness, generic story, and heavy use of dubstep.

Meh.

The writing is pretty bad in this game. It had a chance to be good, especially with a well executed joke at the end of the first level, but after that it sort of fell flat the whole time. Lots of fart, poop, and penis jokes. It's not that those are always poor jokes, but they clearly put no effort into even trying to make them funny. I ended up looking for a setting to silence the main character's voice lines but I couldn't find it.

The gameplay picks up when you start to learn the various Katana moves which consist of double tapping a movement key and holding down a mouse button. Remembering what each one does and stringing them together can be fun. The game tries to give you some guns like revolvers and crossbows but I used each one for maybe a few seconds before putting them away forever. They're completely unnecessary and aren't as fun to use as the Katana.

The level design was reeeaaalllyyy bad. The entire layout was just confusing. You'd finish a wave of enemies and have no idea where you need to go next, so you wander the map looking for a glowing door. Sometimes you'll even enter a certain part of the map, kill some enemies, and then have to go BACKWARD to the part of the map you were just at and take an alternate path. It really gave me a headache and was the biggest reason I stopped playing. You get to the point where you just have no sense of direction. If the game doesn't want to be linear then I'm fine with that, but it's handling it very poorly.

Overall I would not recommend this game. It's boring after the first 30 minutes, the level design is horrible, and the writing is cheesy and stupid.

CS:GO Review
I could never get very far into Counter-Strike games because I'm just not good at them, but I definitely like this one the most. Valve incorporates many things from their other titles like Dota 2 with their spectating system, which allows you to drop into professional player matches and fully spectate them, to coaching, matchmaking and more. It's still the same game with some big changes here and there but nothing that would make you not recognize that this is indeed counter-strike.

It's visually pleasing for an engine that, in my opinion, is showing its age compared to a lot of the next generation engines we're beginning to see. I would hope this gets an update to Source 2 somewhere down the line, but the game doesn't look bad. It makes nice use of lighting and environmental flair without it getting in the way of classic game play elements. I think this game has a big future and for some of the crazy pricing I've seen this game have I'd say it's definitely worth it (♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IT'S $3.74 RIGHT NOW?).

Pretty good. I do not like the TV show, I haven't read the comics, and I really don't like anything that has to do with zombies all that much. That's the reason I've avoided this game until now and finally decided to pick it up during that Halloween sale long after all the episodes had been released and Season 2 announced.

It's great storytelling - that's about it. The gameplay is very much QTEs and quick decision making, along with some puzzles which are mainly just you roaming around finding items that you can use to get past a certain point. The QTEs are often "mash A" (or Q if you're using K&M) to fight off a zombie or something. If I'm ever willing to forgive QTEs then it would be in this game because the story is just really good, and every decision really DOES make an impact on the rest of the game. I also appreciate that the decisions aren't black and white, they're very morally ambiguous and you often don't have more than 10 seconds or so to think about your choice.

I liked it enough to immediately buy The Wolf Among Us as soon as I finished this game, and I'll be getting Season 2 without a doubt. I wish they would experiment with some different gameplay mechanics but the writing, pacing, and overall atmosphere was nailed beautifully.

This game is better than you'd think. The control scheme seems a little difficult at first but over time the two characters feel like one. Luckily the puzzles don't require too much in terms of split-second coordination.

The story is simple but unfolds purely through the environment, the brothers don't even speak any known language. It's the story of two brothers struggling through a perilous journey to a mountain top to save their father, and right off the bat it makes it clear to you that it's going for your heart strings. Some might think that it's trying a little too hard at this and they'd have a fair point, but the presentation I think goes a long way.

The gameplay itself is mostly navigating the various environments using the two brothers slightly varied ability. Much like you'd expect, the older brother is braver and can handle the stronger stuff while the little brother needs more protecting but is faster and can climb things more easily. They both have different things they can do that you learn as you play, which I quite liked. Graphically the game is very good looking and has a great art style. They put various vistas around the world so you can get a good look at it too.

It's a short game, but I doubt you'll complain about that aspect. The gameplay elements fully flesh themselves out and don't leave you wanting more by the end. I will say that the end of the game does have a really interesting moment (that I won't spoil), and it's something that only a game with this particular gameplay mechanic would be able to do.

Overall the game is pretty interesting and I recommend giving it a go if you ever get the chance. It can be played in one or two sittings.

I bought this game purely for the HD City Escape level. There were also a few other levels I really liked, like Rooftop Run. This game is basically just an HD remake of everyone's favorite levels from all of the Sonic games. Every course has to be completed twice. Once with 2D sonic, and once with 3D sonic. Boss fights also alternate between the two sonics. Sometimes you come across a 2D part in the middle of a 3D course, but you never come across a 3D part in a 2D course. I'm not a fan of the 2D segments, so I was always a bit bummed when I would run across a 2D segment in the middle of a 3D level. The game already has you complete both 2D and 3D courses, why does 2D also get to invade 3D courses?

The level design is pretty solid but keep in mind they definitely change things around - so your old favorite level isn't 100% the same. The music is good and there's a lot of it. They've remixed a lot of old tracks from the other games.

If you like Sonic then you won't be disappointed with this game. If you don't like Sonic then this game won't change your mind.

I kind of hated this game. I liked Assassin's Creed 2, but this game just kept ramming itself into walls. The missions are terrible and boring. I'm tired of following people through crowds to eavesdrop on their conversations - it's not fun. Then you have some completely buggy and broken stuff to go along with it. Some of the side missions or optional stuff let's you assassinate a Borgia family captain who walks around a general area. One time I came across a ship yard, where clearly the developers wanted you to dive off the mast of a ship and air assassinate him. I didn't want to do this - I had seen it done many times and I wanted to do it my way. The problem? Approaching him made him run, which is fine, but he runs about 10 feet before he disappears into the side of a building. No doors or anything around, he just vanishes. I felt like I was playing a Playstation 2 game. There were frequent occurrences of ridiculous design like that and I had enough of it. I did not finish the game nor do I want to. It also turned me off of the rest of the series.

This game is a disaster. I'm not sure what George Lucas was thinking when he made this prequel to Star Wars. You don't play a Jedi (nor do you ever see any Jedis), your ship is replaced with a magical horse, you are stranded on a strange earth-like planet, you have no contact with any outside forces, and your only choice is to train your magic horse to try and escape the planet so you can meet back up with the rebel fleet. I was massively disappointed with this game.

Very great game. The atmosphere is designed by the guy who designed City 17 from HL2. It's got a nice mix of 1750's London and Steam Punk as well.

The gameplay is also pretty great. It's an assassination game that you can play without actually killing anybody (if you prefer). It has a fun sword fight combat system, a great stealth system, magic that fits well with both play styles, and an investigation type story that allows you to pursure different avenues of investigation to find the best way to take out your current target.

The story isn't amazing or complicated, but it fits the atmosphere very nicely. There aren't many twists and turns (that you won't see coming anyhow) but the gameplay is what makes this game fun. Sections of the story are also influenced by how you choose to deal with your targets as well.

I can see this game getting Game of the Year. It's worth picking up for whatever price.

If you are into any sort of video making at all then it's worth investing some hours into this. It has a steep learning curve but once everything sort of clicks then it's fun to mess around with. You can usually come up with a half-way decent video by just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around on a random map with some player models, and the Workshop has some great assets as well.

It took me maybe 20 to 25 hours to be able to comfortably make something without having to look up tutorials, so prepare for the learning curve.
