TL:DR - Wait for steam sale.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Presentation and handling wise, this games a step forward although I still long for the days of "Be a Driver" from 2010 when we had paddock access. It needed expanding, not removing completely but I digress.
The new podiums feel stiff and awkward partly due to the poor character models.

You get two seasons worth of content in this package, 2014 + 2015 but a real missed opportunity by Codemasters to tie the two seasons together into some cohesive career mode. Instead you simply pick which seasons cars you chose to drive which other than aesthetics drive exactly the same.

Season mode has a fixed set of options regarding length and season types that can't be tweaked so if your doing a 25% race distance your forced to do 1 15min practice season and a 1 shot qualifying lap. No option to do a traditional qualifing setup. I can't understand why you would remove played choice from menu's that has been there since 2010.

Visuals are about the norm for the series with a really horrific motion blur and Depth of field effect added to hide the cracks, the much heralded 'new game engine' is clearly just an evolution of the EGO engine. If it isn't, then they've gone very much out of their way to make it exactly the same in many ways. Another missed chance to really upgrade.

Everything else feature wise has had a massive step backwards. A very empty product. They've already confirmed there will be no DLC either so what you see is what you get. Very disappointing.

The core game underneath has potential.... I recommend a purchase but only once it hits the steam sales.
