Hot garbage. I adored the original, and was pretty excited for this.

Plays poorly, and the story additions make basically everyone unlikable. I'm gonna go play River City Girls again instead.

Xcom team makes Fire Emblem game based on aughts Marvel lore, ignoring MCU entirely.

I don't know if this game is for you, but it is *very explicitly for me*.

What a very, very Kojima game. 4 hours in at the time of this writing. I wanted to play the Silent Hills game that is probably never coming out, and figured this was about as close as anything was going to get.

Thus far, not disappointed!

It is, in fairness, cutscenes occasionally broken up by a hiking simulator. Running too fast on a hillside has proven more daunting than raiders or monsters. That's not a criticism... the game is (thus far) exactly what it looked like it would be.

But it is hitting those surrealist notes quite well.

Probably my favorite game of the past couple years, and a massive leap forward in every aspect compared to its predecessor.

Not everything is perfect, obviously. But this is, to my experience, the best example of this genre of game that's yet been made. There's a clear love and care in how many different ways this story can path. Both in the source material and this video game adaptation.

More than any other video game, I really do feel like I'm being DM'd for. There are definite moments of - yeah, this is the DM/GM's style coming into play - which is a deeply lovely feeling.

This has booted all other games out of my playing space at this time. Like, I just don't feel like playing anything else at the moment.

It's quite good!

Never played this entry, and wow! You can really see where the foundations of the series begin to take place. No lie, I'm enjoying this game way more than I expected.

Bounced of it at first, circled back around and I'm glad I did.

I never played Symphony of the Night, etc. - the last Metroidvania that I played to any length was Metroid II: Samus Returns - and at first, it reminded me of games like Rogue Legacy (which are fine, just not my cup of tea).

I didn't really *get* the genre until I gave this a second roll. Filling out the map, finding secrets, over the top gothic style... this is good! It is, in fact, my jam! The joy of exploration is palpable in a way I haven't experienced in a game for some time.

So yeah! I found it deeply pleasant!

Wasn't really sure that this game would be for me. Which is fine, as this game isn't super sure what it is, IMO.

I guess it's trying to vibe like Dark Souls + Uncharted, but I don't know. It just feels kind of... there. I guess that there was nothing *wrong* with it, but about 3 hours in, I really wasn't feeling it.

Early Access Review
Still very early access, but this is D&D 5E on a screen, which is exactly what I wanted.

Kind of a cool dynamic where you play a troupe instead of a single protagonist.

Kickstarter backer who bounced off this game twice: wanted to like it, couldn't get into it.

The Turn-based mod changes everything. It brings this game to life for me. I just don't vibe with the Balders Gate-style RTWP combat, and a lot of the Pathfinder/D&D spells go right to hell with the chaos & AI mob tactics (hi fireball).

But with the Nexus turn based mod, it feels like Pathfinder. And I've deeply enjoyed the game since!

It Doom.

Frankly, this was the best reason to get on anxiety medication: I can play Doom and enjoy it, without flipping the eff out.
