Incredibly democratic coop.

Darktide had a rough start, no denying that. But to Fatshark's credit, they've been updating and improving the game ever since, and it's in a MUCH better shape today. No connection issues, the crafting system is functioning (though I still think the system as a whole is a still bit clunky and could use more tuning), but most importantly, it's still a blast to play.

Fun core gameplay loop. The bright aesthetics are a nice change from other shooters in this genre. But the Unreal engine crashes constantly - ctd, and even the dreaded bsod (which is a first for this pc). It's just not worth it in its current state. After losing a full kit/pack for the umpteenth time, I'll wait until the devs make it stable.

EDIT: Was able to dumb down graphic settings and fiddle with settings and got it to a mostly working state. The game is great (when it's working) - and it's free to play! No reason not to give it a shot.

Early Access Review
I want very much to like this game, but it needs SERIOUS balancing. The difficulty is truly brutal. And because of its turn-based nature, you can waste a lot of time retracing your steps after getting randomly double critted to death at the end of a dungeon. So you load it up to try again, this time survive the dungeon, but run into a pack of wolves on the way home. Next time you survive the dungeon, avoid the wolves, but die from cumulative pain and hunger after blowing through all your food/meds.

I love challenging roguelike games, but most of my deaths in Stoneshard just feel cheap and unearned. Read these reviews, devs. Make this game challenging AND fun. Give us some freaking defensive abilities, or more environmental objects to utilize, or literally ANY way to play this game cleverly without leaving it up to ♥♥♥♥♥♥ RNG.
