I am a 64 year old father

I am a father to my son Tony, who is now 38 years old. My son has always been obsessed with games, as they have given him an avenue of entertainment that he can’t obtain in real life. Recently, Tony downloaded Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition, and in less than a week, he had already played for over 20 hours. This was devastating for me, as it was already hard enough for me to spend time with my son, on account of his disability, which makes him non verbal and not quite mentally there, resulting in him to be under the care of social support workers, who cater to his disability, while I am at work.

In a bid to bond with my son, I decided to make a Steam account, and acquire this game, to see if I could play alongside him. I loaded into the game, did the tutorial, but unlike games on the Wii, I couldn’t find a couch co op option to play with him through. I asked my son for help, and he was able to host a game for me to join. I loved it, as it was the only real bonding time I’ve spent with my son, since we went hiking, and played games on the Wii years ago. I’ve gotten older since I last went hiking, and don’t have the energy I used to, so to sit down and play with him, in a way he knew how, was like a dream come true.

This game has ever since brought my son and I closer again, and now on the weekends, when I’m free from work, we actually spend time together outside of the house as well. This game reminded me that there’s fun to be had in everything, and it has brought both my son and I, many fond memories.
