Early Access Review
Valheim has earned its way into the hall of fame for survival crafters, clawing its way up to the ranks of games such as Minecraft and Terraria.

At its best, Valheim will stun you. The game was made to be played with friends, and it makes no mistake in showing it. You can go from establishing forts, outposts and siege lines to attack the wicked goblins of the plains, to sailing the wide open sea, to sitting by a fire in your settlement's mead hall and swapping war stories over delicacies made from beasts slain in bloody battle.

At its worst, Valheim is punishing and unrelenting. It provides a lesson for teamwork and a sense of "what went wrong?" for you to ponder.

But it is never dull, unless you make it so. Game journalists will insist that the dreaded Black Forest will leave you quaking in your boots and ready to rage-quit the game, but the reality is that as long as you find a good group, you'll always come back for more.

Valheim is a genre among a genre, the ultimate viking survival experience. 10/10.
