This is by far and above the best 4 player co-op fps that I have ever played. It is like a mashup of Team Fortress 2 with the classes, Left 4 Dead / Vermintide for the FPS gameplay, and Minecraft as you have to mine for minerals. There are a bunch of really fun and varied game modes while maps are randomly generated and completely destructible. The fun is seemingly endless!

Everything about this game is brilliant and there is always a road-map with significantly more content planned to come in post launch updates. It is so much fun playing through each one of the major updates as the game is vast and always improving in meaningful ways. It has not even come close to wearing out on me and I am approaching 120 hours played. I feel like I will get *at least* another 120 hours of enjoyment out of the absolute smash hit that is Deep Rock Galactic.

So far their model has been to add meaningful in game content through free post-launch updates which are funded by optional cosmetic DLC. This keeps the community together and seems to be the way to go for multiplayer focused games these days in order to keep the player base high. Deep Rock Galactic is so good, though, that I would be more than willing to buy paid DLC which adds more than just cosmetic content although I feel it would be in their best interest not to do this in order to guarantee the longevity of the game through a cohesive player base.

Stop thinking about it and just buy it already!

TL;DR Amazing devs, fantastic game, loads of content, will only get better, worth buying at full price.

If you grew up playing quake and want the feeling of playing it again but a tiny bit more modern this is the game for you. They capture the essence of what made Quake one of the best shooters of all time; the mechanics are there, the engine is superb, and the level design is exactly how it should be when modelling a game off of the original Quake.

I just can't get enough of this old school action brought into the new age. With all these ultra generic shooters Dusk is able to stand out as a shining example of what old school FPS fun is all about. Also, check out AMID EVIL to get that same deal but int he Hexen/Heretic vein.

TL:DR if you liked the original Quake this is worth every penny at full price. They nailed every aspect of it.

It is hard to encapsulate the pure joy that this game brings while playing it. I played the original version when it was a 'games for windows live' game and absolutely loved it. When I saw it had been remastered by Gearbox I wanted to play it again so badly, but no discount for original owners meant I was unwilling to pay for a game I already own. Anyways, I finally got it for an excellent price and I must say that this version is AWESOME. This is one of the most fun FPS games out there while the full clip edition is polished, extended, and looks much butter. The system that scores your kills makes you want to kill in the most fun of ways and adding the kick / whip mechanic just makes this game something altogether different from any FPS I have played.

It has a decent enough plot to keep you going but make not mistake - this game is a throwback to the glory days of fast paced FPS and total carnage so the story doesn't even really matter when the gameplay is just SO GOOD. If you like FPS and haven't played this game you are doing yourself a disservice. I would even go as far as to say that it is worth full price if you haven't bought the previous GFWL version as it is just that good. I like how they added some new modes and multiplayer which keeps the replayability up. This really is the definitive experience of one of my all time favorite FPS games.

If you are thinking of buying this game I say stop thinking and start shooting. It is worth your money and Gearbox deserves your money considering they resurrected a dead GFWL title that might just be up there in the top single player FPS games of all time. Nothing does what it does and it does it so well. Thanks, Gearbox, for bringing this title back and making it better than ever. I thoroughly enjoyed my second playthrough of the game with enhanced graphics and just an overall better experience.

Considering this game against all FPS games and not all games I give it a solid 9/10 for being one of the best in its genre.

What a ride.

Early Access Review
Written and played right after the chapter 5 update:

Holy smokes someone actually did it! I didn't think it was going to be possible to capture the Heretic/Hexen feel in a modern engine, but so far, they have pulled it off with flying colours. This brings be back to the days of those original games and I get the same feeling playing this. The gameplay mechanics are almost the same as those originals but brought up to modern standards. It is so cool to see the pixelated graphics in the Unreal 4 engine. They really just NAILED the graphics, atmosphere, and gameplay. I was hesitant to buy this game and I am really glad I did because these devs definitely deserve your support if you are looking for the best update the Hexen style FPS on a modern platform.

Bravo to the Indefatigable team and keep up the amazing work! I hope it keeps on getting better and better.

I have to preface this review with the fact t hat I played this game fully patched so I only came up against one game breaking bug that I had to restart from a saved game which sucked, but one bug is really nothing these days. I think the flak that this game gets is not warranted as they set out to make a top down shooter and I think they made a very fun game in the genre. It has lots of different types of weapons that are all upgradable, the graphics are excellent, and it is fun to play. The story is idiotic and really just there to keep you blasting things, but who really cares about a story in this type of game?

I think that the environments are really cool and the artists did an excellent job with this game. If you like top down shooters I would say this is one of the better ones I have played and have no problem recommending it. It is nothing special but what it does it does well.

The one negative thing I would say is that it is absolutely not worth the asking price. This is a $20 game maximum and I got it in a bundle that cost about $7 and had 6-8 games in it which could also be why I enjoyed it much more than other people. If I had spent full price I may have a different opinion on the game. Get it on sale or in a bundle and you'll enjoy it.

Oh boy am I happy I decided to pull the trigger on this game! I played Descent 1 and 2 when they were current and absolutely loved them. They had tight gameplay mechanics, a fresh style of gameplay (6 degrees of freedom), excellent atmosphere, and great music.

Everything present in those games that wowed me are here in Overload with as much polish, style, and great gameplay mechanics as the original Descent games. Plus, there is multiplayer, challenge mode with leader boards and a really easy to use level editor so you can have endless fun! It is so great to see some devs get back and revive their genre in the truest form to their old games as possible while being completely modern. The icing on the cake is playing it in VR! With an HP WMR HMD + Xbox One S controller I am LOVING this experience.

I highly recommend this game if you were into the descent games and want something that lives up to them whether you are playing in pancake or VR mode this game is awesome - you will not regret it.

This is simply one of the best RTS games of all time, hands down. If you want massive scale battles with that good old time RTS feel then this is the pinnacle of what RTS on a grand scale can offer. Nothing has done it better than this so far and with Forged Alliance Forever being actively worked on with a decently sized community this game is going to last for quite some time. They made an absolutely terrible game for the sequel so this is going to have to take us until someone decides to one up. I, for one, am grateful for this amazing RTS and the excellent community that had nurtured it over the years. I just really don't think it gets better than this for large scale RTS.

Want more Prey? YES.

Want a roguelike Prey for more replicability? Sure, why not?

I would have gone with a solid old school style expansion where we get another campaign that builds on the excellent foundation of Prey, but it is such a good game that I will take what I can get. This is fun and it is more Prey. Great!

I LOVED Bioshock 1 and Bioshock 2 was very good. Bioshock 3 was fun, but in the new age "AAA" super easy and not much to it gameplay mechanics wise kind of fun where you just kind of pass everything by thinking you're having fun until you realise it was just too easy and didn't really pose a challenge to any serious gamer even on the harder difficulties.

This is where Prey swoops in and saves the day. This is the Bioshock 3 that I really wanted and they gave it to me in flying colours. If you like the Bioshock gameplay mechanics and GREAT atmosphere this game has it all. I was just floored at how good this game was as it came out of nowhere for me. It wasn't even on my radar. Hell, I pirated it just to see if it was good and couldn't put it down until I beat it and then felt shame for not supporting the developers so I bought it and beat it again. I can hardly stick with a game these days until the end and I beat this one twice.

What a refreshing breath of air in all the junk FPS games we have out now. Do yourself a favour and buy this game because the developers deserve your money and you deserve to experience one of the best single player FPS games of the decade. BRAVO Arkane Studios, bravo.

It is just a super basic copy of smash bros. Not even the best one out there. I got this for a quarter fo the asking price on sale and still don't think it is worth it. The controls are wonky and the gameplay mechanics are just not good. I wanted to like it. I tried to like it, but I just don't. If you are looking for a smash bros clone I would suggest looking for another title.
