If you play only one FPS this year make sure that game is DOOM. This is the true old school revival I have been looking for! DOOM is so much fun with extremely fast paced gameplay like the good old days combined with a seriously optimized engine makes for an amazing experience. The graphics are fantastic and with almost every setting pumped to the max I am usually around my 100fps cap. This game is such a pleasure to play and being able to maintain a high framerate with a 100hz monitor is just pure glory. Do yourself a favour and get this game!

This is one of the best side scrolling shooters I have ever played and to top it off the couch co-op experience was fantastic. There are a myriad of guns to choose from while the combat is satisfying and not janky at all like some side-scrollers can be. I highly recommend this game if you are looking for a sweet couch co-op game to play with your friends. Highly worth the asking price. The only downside is that there is no more once you have beat the main campaign. I would love to see an expansion sized DLC as my friend and I really want to play more.

I got Mad Max for 18 bucks and I still feel that I wasted my money and time. First of all I would like to comment on the graphics, not that I think that graphics really matter as much as people make it out to be but the fact that everyone is praising the game for looking amazing and running so well. The game does not look good. The textures and models look closer to something from the PS2/3 days and the only reason it looks kind of nice is because they heavily rely on shaders and blur to hide the fact that things just don't look very good which leads to why the game runs so well. It runs well because there is basically nothing going on. I was able to pull a minimum of 80fps and a near constant max of 100fps @ 1080 with my frames being limited to 100 as that is the refresh rate of my panel on my laptop. There are no complex models or detailed places to find while the game is supposed to be a barren wasteland I feel that they could have done it so much better. It just feels cheap and quick which is consistent with the rest of the game. The story line is crap, but who expected anything out of that department really? The fighting mechanics are the rehashed batman mechanics we are all too familiar now except that this feels much easier. I can't put my finger on it but the combat is just so damn easy that it feels like a chore you need to get through rather something you need to concentrate on and have some fun with. When I am fighting I find myself trying to think about other things and paying little attention to the actual task at hand because it is so boring and so easy. The vehicular combat holds up about the same as the hand to hand combat. It just feel uninspired and empty. You do the same basic things a couple times each time you meet a car or convoy and without much thought you win whatever it was you were after., There is no real reason to change your tactics or even think about what you are doing. Need to hit something perfectly every time with a weapon? Just hold a button and press another button and you hit home every damn time without any skill or thought. The rest of the game is like the combat, nothing special, repetitive and super easy. You do the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over again it gets quite ridiculous. The initial fun that the game offers quickly turns into a quagmire of thinking to yourself... why am I still playing this? The game is so repetitive that I had to wait a few days between game sessions just to build up the want to go back and do the same things again a few times over. After 14 hours of game play and at least 6 hours of asking myself the question, why am I still playing this, every time I played I finally uninstalled it. I think the best feeling during this whole fiasco was the feeling of finally committing to uninstalling it and moving over to something more fun.

6/10 for a PC port done well, but a totally lacklustre and uninspired game.

Absolute genius; this game will most definitely not be for everyone, but for those who are philosophically and/or sociologically inclined this game is an absolute gem.
