Currently its better Xenonauts 1. In the future it will be more of its own game, but better Xenonauts 1 is already a pretty high bar.

I love Tower Unite and will happily pay $15 for cosmetics I'll never use if it means they can keep development moving smoothly

Gnorp Apologue is a really pleasant incremental game that puts a lot of work into giving itself a unique visual and mechanical identity.
At it's base it isn't the most unique thing in the world. The only mechanic I haven't really seen before is needing to manually increase your recieval as well as your input, but it's the ways in which it builds upon that which makes it interesting. Applying the deckbuilder build-archetypes design ideology to an idle game leads to some really interesting stuff. Idle games are all about number-go-up brain chemicals and this build system allows for some monstrous number-go-up moments.

I legitimately am unsure how to write about this game. It is just precisely my vibe. The art and design are complete insanity, the music is solid, the combat is pure chaos with endlessly creative enemies, you just have to experience it yourself.

Tower Unite is a truly fantastic social game that is legitimately hampered by how well it is developed.

Tower Unite is a fantastically thought out social setting with piles of content to play:Bowling, mini-golf, go carting, ball racing, typing races, trivia, laser tag, fishing, an asymmetrical multiplayer game, Competitive shooters, co-op shooters, an arena shooter, home design, built-in emulation support, a casino, an arcade, shared media viewing, and there is more that I'm not remembering. All of it is executed so lovingly, but that loving development comes at the cost of long development times.
As a dedicated player that is obviously not a problem. I'd rather wait a long time for a finished product than have it launch under cooked, but where that development can be a problem is in the extremely important aspect of new player retention. A new update can attract plenty of new players, but the speed at which the next update releases (e.g. months down the line with no new playable content in-between) means they lose the majority of those new players by the time that next update launches. This means the game has a relatively small, but dedicated fan base and likely won't grow a ton until it eventually gets a marketing push at 1.0.

This game is exactly what it says on the tin and a very fun time. It aint that deep and is priced accordingly.

New Heights is as realistic of a rock climbing simulator as one can reasonably expect to be fun. I have had an absolute blast puzzling out how to climb the many real-world environments that this game entails in its current early-access launch version. It's a fantastic time that I look forward to checking in on as its development continues.

Battlebit is a perfectly created love letter to the glory days of the Battlefield franchise and there are few better periods the game could release in than 2023 following the disastrous launch and struggling recovery of Battlefield 2042.
It is everything the developers sought for it to be: A healthy, flourishing Battlefield game that doesn't have to deal with Electronic Arts.

The actual gameplay is quite good. The truly wild amount of monetization is not.

It's quite a good single player roguelite that then happens to be an over-monetized live-service MMO for some reason. The roguelite is a great time.

It honestly feels surreal that we finally have a mother truly great mainstream wrestling game.
Great combat, an interesting Showcase, streamlined creation options that are more powerful than ever, and (unlike last year) full Steam Deck compatibility.
