The dev team seems obsessed with making radical changes to the game. Every major update, the buffs, nerfs and redesigns of this and that turn the whole game on its head in ways that feel like riding on a crazily swinging pendulum.

This is how its been for years. They keep making excuses for it and for themselves, and they even sometimes say they're going to stop doing things like that. Then they just keep doing things like that.

I can't recommend this game at all if you like PVP. PVP is supposed to be a big part of ESO, and the devs never fail to do a lot of things that don't matter much while perpetually ignoring all the elephants in the room.

If you prefer PVE, expect core functions of how your class plays to get utterly revamped one to four times a year. Don't expect a lot of those changes to make sense even if the devs explain themselves in the patch notes.

If you must play this game, don't get too heavily invested into exotic gear sets that put a refined polish on a specific build - your build is going to be trashed one to four times a year. Get solid, basic gear that you don't have to work too hard for and make your peace with sticking with it unless you just like re-farming gear from dungeons and raids a lot.

Also, don't bother getting too invested in the economic PVP. A handful of guilds run everything and, much like the real world, do everything in their power to make sure that even if they swap ownership of best locations from time to time between themselves, they'll never have any real competition and the devs will care not one jot about any affect this has on the playerbase as a whole.

Lastly, expect 90% of everything the devs do to be to slap something else on the cash shop. Most of it will be reskins and minor modifications of things they've released before.

So, if you're going to play this, keep your expectations altogether low when it comes to anything and everything community related. ESO has a pretty decent community, but you're only gonna wind up sad if you try to get too seriously invested in things like endgame PVE, PVP in general or much of anything except crafting,, selling stuff through one of the big merchant guilds and seeing all the story in the game.

The game has a lot of story to play through. Nothing bad to say about that at least.
