The concept of Deseret is based on INDUSTRY. Brigham Young adopted the symbol of the behive to motivate the pioneers to transform the Salt Lake Valley, a total desert at the time, IMO, this civ is a bit underpowered and not very interesting. The faith aspect is important to LDS culture, however, if you are going to name it DESERET then INDUSTRY should be as much or more a focus than faith and temples. I think it might be appropriate to augment the temples, that cities with built temples produce +1 food and +1 production for all desert tiles worked by that city, and perhaps limit DESERET to just 4 FREE temples in their FIRST 4 settled cities, ....the +1 food would be inline with the concept of LARGE families by the Latter-Day-Saint faith..
