so like yakuza 7, i absolutely hated the gameplay and some battle music genuinely pissed me off or annoyed me
(i literally bought the booster dlcs because i just couldnt deal with it anymore)

i really miss real time combat and i loved gaiden infinitely times more than this but it was still a nice experience

story was pretty good as always, very long and high budget this time around for sure like the marketing hinted at. the characterization was verrrryyyyy good this time around and they definitely addressed an issue i personally had with the previous game, where it felt like everybody except ichiban were just supporting statues in the background during cutscenes. although since that game was changed to an rpg during development, it could be from having to throw them into cutscenes that were already done? i dunno

there's a loooooottttttttttt of stuff to do which is great, lots of fun stuff to do it can be overwhelming lol

unfortunately i can rarely bring myself to enjoy rpgs but i tried to push myself with 7 and 8 since this is one of my favorite series and of course, the story is still continuing with these, so i want to still be able to experience it. i do wish real time combat would remain. i am happy that people who enjoy the new gameplay enjoy it though, it is nice that more people get to experience this incredible series

i'd say 6/10 for me, and don't let this deter you from playing the game, it is a phenomenal experience through and through, i just hate turn based rpg gameplay. if you love turn based rpgs and whatnot, (plus obviously are an existing fan of the series), there's so much to love here.
