As a kid i was always taking apart my toys because i wanted to know what was inside and how they worked and then putting them back together again, something that didn't always work out that well. Though it was more out of curiousity it does help you to understand things better and why they do what they do.

Guns have been something else I've always been interested in, especially in how they work and where their life taking power comes from. And taking them apart and putting them back together again is actually a must, not only for maintenance purposes but also to understand them. Unfortunately it isn't that easy to get your hands on let's say an M4 (in the Netherlands at least), let alone have the money to spend on it, so stumbling on this little yet very in-depth and detailed interactive guide was a very welcome surprise.

World of Guns has a lot to offer the weapon enthusiasts among us. It not only lets you take them apart piece by piece but it also shows you how the pieces work together which you can view in X-ray vision or by cutting away different parts of a weapon. Next to that you'll also be able to read up on information and history of any weapon in particular by means of simple yet effective integrated links to the interwebs, check out the attachments of certain weapons and what they do, and you'll be able to give most guns a test run on numerous shooting ranges.

All in all this is a very complete package for it's asking price (Free if you are willing to put in the effort!) and will come as close to handling firearms as a non-specialist/criminal like you and me can. And if you do ever manage to get your hands on a real model of one of the weapons you have studied thoroughly in World of Guns than you will have no problem taking it apart and putting it back together in working condition again. That is probably the best compliment i can give to this little piece of software.
