Not as effective as some other weapons already in the game and breaks down quite fast. Not worth it.

Glitchy Zombies, floating objects, missing textures, Australians, much can be said about what's wrong with Dead Island and the developer behind it, but if you're willing to look past it's flaws and shortcomings there is still a very enjoyable (co-up) first person Zombie hackslashshooter to be found here.

The melee combat works quite well for one. Bashing a zombie's head in with a lead pipe after you've kicked it to the ground is both an effective and a satisfying way of dealing with your enemies opposed to simply pulling a trigger, not to mention that it will save you ammo which is already quite scarce and you might need if things turn real hairy.
Don't be fooled though, take on too many zombies at once and you'll still be easily overwelmed no matter how much experience you've gained or how strong your weapons are, modified or not. You're far from invinsible and you'll die easily if you don't think things through and just rush in. This is not a bad thing though, in my opinion this keeps you on your toes and keeps things challenging and exciting.

So i mentioned modified weapons, which is one of the key gameplay features. With items you find around the island you can alter existing weapons to make them more powerfull like combining nails with a baseball bat to create a spiked bat or create new weapons from scratch like deoderant bombs. Yes, just like in Dead Rising (that one was bound to be named at one point). And just like in Dead Rising you can create all kinds of different crazy (although not as crazy) and deadly weapons by finding blue-prints for them which are acattered around or given to you by survivors if you help them out by completing quests they send you on.
Weapons don't last though so you will have to keep finding or creating new onces. You don't want to have your spiked bat break in two when a bunch of zombies are in between you and your only way out. Repairing your weapons at a workbench where you can also upgrade them or create new ones is also an option but this can become a costly business and quite frankly a waste of money when you consider that you will always find new and stronger versions of a certain weapon around while your leveling up. At one point I had a fully upgraded baseball bat with a spinning sawblade at the end of it and it was wearing out quick. When i finally found a workbench it would cost me roughly 700 ingame dollars to repair it while i had a equally strong wrench that i found earlier which was still in mint condition. In other words, save yourself money and throw out weapons that are worn out. You'll find a better one sooner or later and you'll have some more space in your inventory as well.

Like is said before, Dead Island is an enjoyable game. It's what happens when you would let Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead make a baby together. A ugly, groaning, slightly stumbling, braindead baby.
And there is more then enough to see and do around the island to keep you busy and entertained for hours before it wears out. You can either follow the main quest, take up a bunch of side quests you find along your way or just take a break from it all and go exploring the tropical coast of Papua New Guinea. You can do all of this by yourself or if you feel like company you can also do it with others in co-up. And the best thing about this is that you don't have to start a new game. Just turn on the co-up setting in the online options and people can join you or you can join them in the area you were at.

All in all, If you are in to your zombie apocalypse stuff the current asking price is worth it, but if you can pick it up during a Steam sale be like a zombie and don't think about it, just do it.

Xcom: Enemy Unknown still suffers from many bugs and glitches to this day and that is a real shame. I would like to recommend to wait untill they've fixed most of the issues or at least wait untill it's on sale, but then i would be keeping you from playing a damn good sci-fi turn-based strategy title that can please both veterans and newcomers to the series, and that wouldn't be fair of me. So do as i did, give them your money, swallow, and enjoy.

Fan or no fan, any self respecting gamer should at least have played this game, especially since it has come by in the store a few times now for rediculously low prices. In exchange you will get a immersive, fleshed out, gameplay solid adventure beat-em up that handles like a dream and gives you at least 20 hours of it if you follow the whole story to it's end. Batman fans can count the tons of extra content from the Batman universe as a big plus as the developer really seems to care for the franchise for having nailed most if not everything Batman related on the head.
Well done Rocksteady, well done.
A musthave.

This was my review for Batman: Arkham Asylum, but seeing as it fits Arkham City as well i thought i'd copy/paste it and tell you that you can double its meaning. It's bigger, it's faster, it's longer and there is just more of it.
I'm not entirely sure yes which one of the two i prefer the most but one thing is for sure, Rocksteady has outdone themselves.

As a kid i was always taking apart my toys because i wanted to know what was inside and how they worked and then putting them back together again, something that didn't always work out that well. Though it was more out of curiousity it does help you to understand things better and why they do what they do.

Guns have been something else I've always been interested in, especially in how they work and where their life taking power comes from. And taking them apart and putting them back together again is actually a must, not only for maintenance purposes but also to understand them. Unfortunately it isn't that easy to get your hands on let's say an M4 (in the Netherlands at least), let alone have the money to spend on it, so stumbling on this little yet very in-depth and detailed interactive guide was a very welcome surprise.

World of Guns has a lot to offer the weapon enthusiasts among us. It not only lets you take them apart piece by piece but it also shows you how the pieces work together which you can view in X-ray vision or by cutting away different parts of a weapon. Next to that you'll also be able to read up on information and history of any weapon in particular by means of simple yet effective integrated links to the interwebs, check out the attachments of certain weapons and what they do, and you'll be able to give most guns a test run on numerous shooting ranges.

All in all this is a very complete package for it's asking price (Free if you are willing to put in the effort!) and will come as close to handling firearms as a non-specialist/criminal like you and me can. And if you do ever manage to get your hands on a real model of one of the weapons you have studied thoroughly in World of Guns than you will have no problem taking it apart and putting it back together in working condition again. That is probably the best compliment i can give to this little piece of software.

Addictive rpg shooter that does get repetative after a while but you just can't stop playing.

One title that kept popping up in my head whilst playing 40K's Space Marine was Gears of War, and while not as great as GoW it does come damn close as it certainly delivers the goods for being a brutal testosterone pumping 3rd person shooter/slasher. And so it should, for it is the grandaddy of anything oversized with big guns and therefor an ispiration to many. Thought GoW's chainsaw lancer was something revolutionairy, well think again.
Is this enough to recommend it to others though? I say hell yes, especially when you are a fan of the whole Warhammer 40K franchise because Relic did excellent job at representing this long running franchise. And even if you're not then try it anyways because you might end up becoming one during your Ork slaughterfest, like i did.

Like me you might have heard people say that it gets repetative after a while and though i do agree that the gameplay or gameplay mechanics are quite straight forward and not very versatile it did not bother me all that much. Just like with both the Cybertron games in the Transformers franchise the gameplay is fairly solid and that didn't seem to affect the scores that those titles got. I never got quite enough of grabbing yet another Ork and ripping his head off or curbing him with my massive space boots.
The expansive scenery keeps changing every so many chapters and so do the enemies and this does keep you interested. Especially the massive outdoor areas were impressive to walk around in. Massive bridges in the backround, hundreds of space crafts flying over head, a level build around a giant mech that you eventually will have to board, it all feels very grand and you really feel a part of it all.
All this plus solid visuals and an entertaining storyline kept me going in wanting to finish my heroic mission in trying to save the planet.

You could finish the game in one go in i'd say roughly 6 to 8 hours or so which maybe not all that much but it's enough that it satisfies. And you could always jump in to the co-up mode or the multiplayers afterwards to extend the fun.

An 8/10 from me and well worth your money if you can enjoy mindless mayhem and slaughter.

Free, but above all, fun!
A very simple and straight forward run and gun platformer, much like it's big BRO on the white screen.
Though it is a one shot and you're dead kind of game it isn't to hard and you get plenty of retries. The only time i was having a tough time getting past a certain section was just after the "final" boss. I must have retried that part about 15 times.
Well worth a try if you haven't had enough thoughless gun-ho explosive action from the Expendables movies, especially since it's free! Do check out Broforce though. It made me want to check that one out. Well done.

Little sidenote though, there were a few instances where the framerate dropped way down. I do believe it's the game because the rest of the game played fine, and i played it on a onboard graphics card on 1200p while others with big rigs have had the same issues. Also the long black screen pauses after a mission or after dying were a bit annoying, especially at the point where i started dying a lot.
