I've tried a lot of games in VR and this is absolutely the best one.

incredible amount of weapons, spells, and abilities, with wild combinations and unlockable perks and playstyles.

as a for-instance: initially you'll get three elements to mess with, each one having an energy ball you can throw, a special unique move you can do with that energy ball, and if you conjure one in each hand you can slam them together to do a much larger spell which can be cast out or made to explode around you. you can also unlock adjustments, making the energy ball fly in an arc, curve towards enemies, or go straight out, along with customizations on how your big AoE spell behaves.

but if you conjure two different elements and slam em together, you make a whole different type of magic, with its own unique effects- laser discs, energy beams, sand tornados, a controllable dragon, etc. then as you keep playing you'll find a fourth unlockable magic which has its own interactions with everything, like bloody ghosts and placeable turrets. and I'm underdescribing it to make this review easier to read.

if you don't like magic, there's a pistol, an SMG, a shotgun, a rifle, a bow, a dog, a sword, an axe, a mace- and you can mix and match whatever with whatever. conjure lightning and infuse your pistol for extra shots. conjure blood and feed it to your dog to turn it into a little dogpack. pull rocks out of the ground and throw em at enemies, or turn them into massive stone fists. infuse those fists with fire to make jets stream out of your hands with every punch.

and it all looks and sounds beautiful, especially by VR standards. the studio's still working on it, still making updates with balance tweaks, new classes, and new weapons. you can tell they love the game and want to make it better. and you can teleport- as someone who gets motion sickness from stick movement, that's a huge deal.

no other game I've played feels like this, with so many viable builds, exciting combinations, and satisfying controls. you can play methodically, dynamically, or set a build that gives you a workout. if you're looking for a game in VR that makes you feel like a gritty action hero, this is it.

Hi SidecarDog, thanks for such an incredible and delicated review. You really nailed what we’ve worked hard to build, giving players that “anything goes” feeling in VR with a ton of flexibility in combat and magic. It’s awesome to hear you’ve been experimenting with combos like blood-infused dogpacks or dual-element slams. That’s the kind of thing we love seeing when making game for our players.
Also, really appreciate you pointing out the teleport option, we know how important comfort is for VR players.
If you haven’t already, feel free to hop into our Discord! We’d love to hear more about your builds, and it’s a great place to catch news on upcoming updates, share feedback, or just chat with the team and other players. Look forward to see you there, SlicecarDog:p
