Few games have left me as conflicted as Yakuza 0. While largely succeeding with entertaining writing of wildly various tones across its story and scenarios, the "game" of this game is a collection of mostly shallow toys pasted together with a large amount of care. Combat, when not trying to be challenging, can be entertaining from its spectacle, but becomes annoying and frustrating as hyper armor, unblockable attacks, enemy gangbangs, and offscreen, high-damage projectile attacks become more prevalent as the game progresses. Minigames can range from being great to shallow, time consuming trash. You might have seen any number of videos showcasing some odd, entertaining moment in the games. The story is solid and the sidequest scenarios are almost consistently charming, funny, and heartwarming to various proportions and can make trudging through some of the less enjoyable content significantly more doable.

My recommendation is tenuous, but a recommendation nonetheless. If you're fine with putting up with an often weak gameplay experience, but jive with the humor you might have seen, it's worth playing.

Fez is a wonderfully esoteric game. A simple collectathon-esque puzzle platformer slowly unveils a tricky, mysterious, puzzle filled journey. It's a package of serene nostalgia, obscure secrets, and playground rumors. Despite being mined for every detail, deeper mysteries of the game still seem to beckon, even if true answers can never be known.

About as perfect of a followup to To the Moon as could be managed. I would say the original game is required to fully enjoy this game.

A series of exceptional and varied boss fights which perfectly balance between being predictable and pattern based and requiring quick reflexes. It's hard for me to exactly describe the perfectly engaging pace and rhythm to each fight, sitting firmly in a state of flow that ever so slightly veers into being a tad bit more challenging to ever let you get comfortable. Some attacks and patterns seem to offer few options, but a bit of creativity and a change in approach opens up new opportunities and exploits. I've fought each boss an untold number of times, but they're all still joys to fight (except maybe the Star). If you remotely like games with a heavy emphasis on reaction, pattern recognition, and pure execution, give this a try.

This is an excellent slow-burn survival horror game. Resources are often tight, ambushes can shatter a competent run, and even when you're well stocked, a small mistake can cost you your life. You have to learn to rules of the game and know what to expect or you simply won't be prepared. You can't be stingy, you can't be too cautious, you can (and will) die. A lot. If something like this sounds appealing to you, pick it up. Absolutely.

It's zany, wacky, frustrating madness, but it's worth a dip if you like that kind of thing.
