Early Access Review
The game is good, don't get me wrong. My issue is that it doesn't feel like there's enough to keep me engaged for long. I played through the first 5 difficulties and through most of the different modes, but those alone won't keep me engaged long. I need a good progression system on top of that. The weapons and upgrades are somewhat interesting. I created an immolation build with the starter shotgun and my fire grenade. I basically blew myself up to ignite myself and then had infinite shotgun ammo. Pair that with the double barrel upgrade and I was dishing out some solid damage. That's cool and I would love to grind out some other stuff with that build, but that felt like "the achievement" for me. "If I get a good build then I'm done." I want to have a reason for that good build, though.

This may help to summarize where I'm coming from. Some people like sheer skill-based gameplay. This game might cater to that. But I like power-scaling gameplay. I need the upgrades to feel quite meaningful and impactful. I didn't feel that I could get too much more than the build I had already experienced. At least not without getting very lucky on drops.

Here's the takeaway. I felt like the path of player upgrades was "achieved" and that made me lose interest. I would like another path of upgrades that feels more meaningful. You could say that these have a "global" affect rather than just a build affect. That might be base upgrades or what-not, but I know how cliche base upgrades are at this point.

I hope this can provide some understanding as to what I enjoy and how that impacted my enjoyment of your game. I'll be looking out for future updates. It's just not there for me yet.
