Jumpscares: The Game.

It's annoying when you can tell you're going to die, can even predict "Okay [jumpscare event] is going to happen", and you still jump because of the loud noise. Stupid instincts.

I'll probably keep playing eventually until I beat it, just for completion's sake, but I would avoid it otherwise.

Considering the game's built around it, I don't see it as a bad thing. In fact, I think FNAF is one of the only games that gets jumpscares right.

It has the terrifying suspense that comes with the atmosphere and the characters, but the thing about the jumpscares is that they aren't random. If a jumpscare happens to you, it's because you done screwed up. So how do you avoid them? By not losing, and this is made possible by the fact that FNAF is a game that puts quite a lot of stock in its gameplay. Sure, the game's creepy and all, but let's say that you replaced the animatronics with bandits or...rabbits. It wouldn't make the game less difficult, because the game is about understanding the enemy and adapting to the situation presented to you. Each of them acts differently and, as a result, you need to know what you're up against and adapt.

In terms of game design, especially for a Horror game, I think FNAF is pretty damn brilliant.
