Very fun objective-based top-down co-op hoard-shooter. Still worth playing despite the overwhelming popularity of its sequel. It fills a different niche and is a bit more casual.

Fun co-op experience, kinda reminds me of Sea of Thieves style ship + crew experience.

It can be very punishing at times and seems to be highly reliant on RNG to determine which upgrades and materials you find but it also feels pretty rewarding when you survive and complete the objective. I hope to see this game expand and attract more people.

Dusk is a pretty cool game, very reminiscent of quake obviously but it manages to carve out its own identity. Fairly simplistic but enjoyable.

The multiplayer is fun but I've never seen more than 4 people online at once

Extremely unique experience. Feels more like an art piece than a game.

The game mostly involves platforming around a sprawling city and finding hidden items and talking with NPCs. Its a very short experience and you can complete the whole game in just a minute or two once you understand the map but it seems very much like a slice-of-life snapshot of this fictional town which almost seems like either a dream or some kind of purgatory.

Very interesting game, if you like weird and mysterious then definitely check this out.

Fun game that starts out simple but quickly gets more complicated. The building system in this game is actually pretty insane and allows you to do a ton of stuff.

Good fun if you like tinkering around

Difficult game to recommend but I think its good with some caveats.

Overall its a solid game with a large maps and lots of MMO-style quests. Plenty of weapons and armour and feature-complete fantasy RPG systems.

My biggest complaint is how punishing everything is to new players, it feels like you're always racing to find enough food to avoid starving but you can't carry very much because your weight limit is so low.

Its hard to say whether the game is indented to be this difficult early on or if its just unbalanced. Also the sleeping system is somewhat annoying because it controls things like stamina and health regeneration but also leaves you open to bandit attacks.

Other than just being a little janky sometimes and having very few options for character creation, its actually quite a fun experience. However, after getting stuck in a prison because of a specific NPC interaction and then having a friend accidentally aggro the whole prison against us, we probably died and had to run back over 15 times before we finally killed all of the high-level prison guards and got our stuff back. It was an exhausting experience and made us question whether we really wanted to keep playing or not.

We ended up installing some mods to the game to rebalance some of the survival stuff better as well as raising the max carry weight a bit so that we weren't constantly afraid of losing our stuff and having to make a 5-10 minute jouney from the respawn back to where we died just for it all to happen again.

I'd say that this is a great game for people who love open world RPGs but also that I'd highly encourage looking for some Quality-of-life mods for the game to make the experience smoother and less painful so you can actually play the game instead of spending 40-60% of the play sessions just running to recover your items from the spawnpoint. Once you do that you'll find that there actually is a fun and unique game here.

Looking forward to the sequel that has been announced. I'm hoping it will polish out the rough spots and make a more balanced (and less frustrating experience)

Prepare to crap yourself. Incredible multiplayer experience but you pretty much have to use voice chat if you want to have even a tiny chance of succeeding.

Subnautica is an awesome game, as a licensed scuba diver its fun to be able to do crazy stuff underwater that is impossible or far too dangerous in real life. The base building is good, storytelling is fantastic, all of the various biomes and creatures are well-designed. The progression from area to area is well made too and the vehicles and upgrades are fun to play with.

Biggest gripes with the game are that actually getting into one of the late game areas is far too confusing and the part where you explore some of the alien ruins is a little boring which is a shame since it should be one of the highlights of the game.

Overall I highly recommend the game because its very ambitious and innovative and just swimming around is an enjoyable experience. However, I really really really wish it was designed for multiplayer but the isolation of the singleplayer experience also seems intentional in this story so maybe you would lose something there.

Anyway, buy Subnautica if you love the ocean and want to explore crazy alien ocean environments.

I'm definitely looking forward to Subnautica 2.

Early Access Review
Awesome game from an indie studio. Plays like a survival-crafting Half-Life game. I love the setting and sci-fi themes and the Half-Life/Black Mesa vibe is so prominent. Its a blast to play with friends and there are a number of clever tools and items to play with that make the combat much more interesting than just always trying to find the biggest gun.

The storytelling and worldbuilding bits are fun too, a good blend of creepy and funny.

I also love the environment design, its a static linear map for the most part but the progression through the space is very rewarding as there are many secrets and shortcuts that will keep bringing you back to earlier areas to tie everything together.

Good game, highly recommend, play with friends

Fun game. Classic UT experience. Might be better off getting the community patched installers from the UT preservation website since there are some weird bugs on modern computers and graphics cards.
