I want to give this game a positive review because the story was far more compelling for me than the first, i also loved the game play

but crashes, crashes, crashes, I had to save after every fight because if i didnt there was a chance i would just lose hours of progress for seemingly no reason, sometimes it would be cutscenes, sometimes it would be opening doors, sometimes it would be enemies spawning. I tried every fix i could find and even used a "Crash fix" mod i found on Nexus to no avail.

Devs do not understand how PVE games work

instead, they try to needlessly nerf weapons so nothing feels over powered, like it some sort of OverWatch, hero style shooter. as if its PVP.
Instead of looking at the current meta, and making all the other weapons better to make up for it. they think this means that they should nerf the one gun people are actually using, because the rest of the guns are terrible, so slowly each gun turns into a POS.

Its an idiotic design philosophy, its taken a couple of months for it to fully bear fruit. The fun of a Hoard shooter is being the one guy to hold of waves and waves of enemies, sacrificing yourself for the objective. Instead of being able to do that, they want you to run around the map slowly chipping away at chargers and bile titans while waiting for your one good thing (the stratagem) to cool off after 5 minutes. This turns the game play into just running around in circles hoping you can out run it/your team can kill it.

The game just doesnt feel fun anymore, my favorite thing after it got buffed a while back was the flame thrower, but shortly before this new Flame themed warbond, they nerf it?? and the breaker incendiary?? It's a slap in the face "we're giving you these new toys but you arent going to have fun using them". They added 2 mechs, but for some reason I CANT BRING 2. The entire development philosophy is based around arbitrarily limiting the player for no reason, especially since this is a PVE. Whos going to get mad at a weapon being overpowered? The Bugs?.

Do not buy this game, you will only be disappointed with each update..

They Have since fixed this ideology and the game is fun again, I am changing this but leaving the text incase they revert it back

It is an incredible amount of fun, My only 2 major gripes are the checkpoint system and the crouch ability
it seems they have removed both for DOOM Eternal, but they are present here

-You only use the Crouch button once, during the tutorial that teaches you to crouch under a vent
-The checkpoint system isnt spaced evenly, which makes one mid point area of the game harder than the actual final boss fight, to put this into perspective, i reached this point on the difficulty right above ultra nightmare with 0 deaths, this is the only part of the game that prevents me from doing it on ultra nightmare, because its so far into the campaign and if you die once you restart, its before you pick up the BFG as well so theres no easy way to clear the room if youre in a bind.

Aside from these 2 complains it runs smooth as butter and with DOOM ETERNAL coming out soon I cant recommend this enough

While the game is fun, it has some glaring issues
-DRM that forces my i5 6600k to run at about 80-90%
-A.I. is extriemly war happy, the benefit to this is usually they leave your cities alone and just clean out troops, I had one wipe out all my troops in the northern half of my territory yet left all my cities alone
-Layout is a bit more confusing than Civ 5, took me a few games to understand how everything worked

I enjoyed Civ 5 far more, and would highly recommend picking it up if you can only buy one

The benifit this game does have, is that i found it far more challenging than Civ 5, since in that game you can just spam artillary and win, the improved graphics and animations on the leaders is also a nice plus.

Im recommending it, because despite these flaws I am having fun and will continue to have fun with it.

If youre looking for a fun, "doom-ish" type game to kill 10 or 12 hours this isnt a bad buy, however.
1).The enemy Variety pretty much boils down to
-Regular guy
-Mutant
-big mutant
-Bullet sponge guys
-Bullet sponge guys with miniguns
2). The weapon variety fills its purpose, theyre fairly basic and not that memorable, you get 8 weapons to use and a 9th one to use in the finale, which is a reskinned BFG(which if youre like me you appriciated the homage)
-The Wing Stick is also pretty fun(a deadly boomerang)
3). The world itself is pretty bland and boring aside from a few locations, the authority outposts and the second town you go to. The "open world" aspect I use very loosley, you drive to get to location from location, but its very limited.
4) The characters arent very memorable either, aside from a few vendors that i did remember from my first play-through when this released back on the PS3
5) the level design is that of a stage based arena shooter, which in itself isnt bad, but with the lack of variety and the bland world make it boring after a while, its one of the reasons I imagine they made DOOM 2016 have a shorter campaign, that game however does not have the first 2 issues.
6). if you made it this far down the review, there is a secret doom room you can get to in the gear-head base, press your action button on all the keyboards

Overview: RAGE had many problems in its development and it is apparent, it by no means is terrible, but its not exactly "good" either, a game doesnt have to be game of the year to be considered good, but rather if you can look back and remember some aspect of it. Everything in this game seems very Generic, the epitome of this is the "big bad" you have to save everyone from, which is just some generic faceless bullet sponge bad guys, even the name "the authority" is an example, and since [id] isnt exactly known for their lack of creativity, im going to put that on its development. If youre looking for something cheap to kill 10-12 hours with, then go ahead and pick it up, but dont expect much.

I am going to recommend it, because despite all its flaws I did have fun, I however wont remember it in a week.

I bought this off of the summer sale on a whim and was not planning on having as many hours in it as i currently do

This game operates under the "easy to learn hard to master" category, The games resource management is easy to understand right off the bat, advancing and unlocking new parts of the map comes fairly easy as well, with one exception, as for me personally I had to google what to do next. aside from that, the only downside is I wish there was more enemy variety, Tar monsters and Feral slimes arent that dangerous to begin with, which is unfortunate, you can pretty much just run around any of them.

The deadliest thing ive encountered in game, that gave me that "oh ♥♥♥♥" moment, was when I jumped into my corral of 50+ Rad Slimes to see if the Radiation stacked, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it killed me almost instantly.

What I think has kept me hooked on this is the instant payout mechanic the game operates off of based on your work, this is also somewhat abusable, if you build a corral for a new slime you just discovered, that plort is going to be around 80$ since you havent sold one yet, well you wait until you get 100 plorts out of your pen, and sell them before the games market realizes you have them. and then you get 20,000$

It was definetly more fun than what i expected 9/10 would recommend
