Lot of stuff not working -- cannot figure out how to use the main menu with just the mouse and keyboard, then the controller interface has a number of issues, too. Cannot successfully remap keys to anything usable, and testing out each new configuration means sitting through a long intro animation. Unplayable on Ubuntu Linux 18.10 and 19.04 with xbox-type gamepad controller.

(Update 05/2019: Tried to use Steam Big Picture to get controller support. No dice.)

An action, platformer, puzzle, physics game, for ubuntu linux. Some interesting levels. Graphics are wonderful. Controller support works quite nicely with rubbles, too. A lot of nice touches. Has a lot of the same qwirky feel as Big and Tiny, but not with the 3-D movement. I quite like it so far, although it can be a bit frantic, at times.

Another puzzley-puzzler! Got this in a bundle, yet not my kind of game. Had higher hopes of seeing something spectacular, after playing Tiny and Big. Well, it works fine on ubuntu linux, and that's important. Worked on my lowend ubuntu laptop. I just couldn't imagine playing this on anything besides a touchscreen. Does steam even run on touchscreens? Anyway, no story, the voices are the characters saying "Hate, Hate, Hate" or "Love, Love, Love" over and over (annoying!) while they use their very, very simple actions, so soundtrack, graphics were ho-hum, umm, nothing compelling me to even care to play this game, except a chance to see another puzzle. Just steer clear of this one.

Fun platformer-puzzle game. I certainly liked it more than a lot of other jumping puzzle games, because it had entertaining physics as things bonked around the screen. The voice narration was the best part of the game, for sure, but I am not sure platform-puzzlers are my kind of game. I did have some laughs for the first hour, anyway. After a while, the puzzles got rather tiresome. They are more of a dexterity challenge with the loose controls and looser game physics. I hope the sequels will show better gameplay.

One note though, the xbox type controller has terrible default mappings, and after a half hour, I coud not get it working right.

Really nice 3-D models with the Crimsonland twin-stick gameplay. Level design is somewhat strange: small with destructable obsticles. An odd mechanism where you get a giant robot after picking up enough mechanical parts. Lots of lovecraft monster names, as the waves of monsters keep coming at you, but past that doesn't feel like a lovecraft story. In fact it is very light on the story, after the intro, which really disappointed me. Anyway, I am have had some good fun with it, although it sure feels repeatitive after a few hours. Unlocking new perks doesn't make it feel much different.

Working nicely indeed on my ubuntu linux system, with wonderful graphical effects that I rarely see in other games. I think this is a worthy purchase for a twin stick shooter fan looking for another similar game, but I find myself going back to 10tons original Crimsonland, instead of TvL.

This game kicks some serious butt, with wickedly fun gameplay, cool unlockables, and very awesome movie parodies.

Play the campaign single-player, online-multplayer, or 4-player local co-op. It is all a lot of fun, and the campaign has tons of levels, with some good variation. This game is a blast, and it should be part of everyone's game library.

The gameplay is a good challenge, but trying different approaches really pays off. Sometimes I am using a sneaky approach, sometimes rushing, and sometimes super slow crawl. And, upon each retry a totally random BROS is selected, so I have to play with whatever is dealt out. It's such a good idea, because each BROS has totally different weapons and playstyles.

The level designs are very clever, too. It is never boring, with deformable terrain, and dynamic map elements. Based on how I approach the level, I might find myself trying to dig up through a mountain, or making flying jumps into the air praying to see the ground when I land. Just like the movie Team America, this game delivers lots of laughs and lots of action, but it never takes itself too seriously. This is a game that is great in small doses. Thankfully, it's easy to pick up and come back to later.

Played on ubuntu linux 16.04 & 18.10 & 19.10, with a 500 MB install size. (Update: There is a serious bug with online play with a linux host, when typing chat on the keyboard while using a controller.) The game comes with five soundtrack MP3, which are just totally crazy musical numbers, such as The Ballard of Rambro. "I am just a maaaaan, who bleeds red white and bluuuuuuee..." Had no problem getting my xbox-type gamepad controller working, and I was able to continue my single-player campaign, with the online-multiplayer.

There is an early, no-cost version of Broforce on Steam, called The Expendabros, but I found the The Expendabros gamepad controls pretty lousy. Everything comes together better in Broforce, but it is at least an idea of the game play.

A strange Japanese puzzle that takes under ten minutes to play completely. Hold down the right arrow key, and let go when you hear some music. Ummm... what? That's all the gameplay it has here. It ran okay on ubuntu linux. It did not do fullscreen correctly, and it had no video options menu. Also, don't look at my time played. I let it run to get the trading cards. I was done with Star Sky after ten minutes. This is one of those games that you would not be surprised to see on a trashy Flash games website; charging four dollars for this game seems wrong.

I love this game. I keep coming back to it, because it has great gameplay. STEEP learning curve: the game expects you to master nine keyboard keys AND remember the rhythm of each song. But once you get it, the game is great fun. Solid cutscene animation and funny characters keeps the gameplay from getting dry. Works really well on ubuntu linux desktop versions. Also, be aware that there is a "Directors Version" on steam, sold separately, which seems to have additional features. I think it has some additional levels and multiplayer, but reviews say that the gameplay may not be as responsive. I decided on getting this version, and I would recommend others to do the same.

After many hours practicing, I beat the game on expert level, and I am now working on the Chopin (highest) level. There are a few games that I have beaten at all on steam, and Frederic is the only one that I played again at a harder difficulty. So, you see that this is one of my most favorite games.

I never played the Rock Band games, so I never thought that I was interested in rhythm games. For some reason, I gave Frederic enough time to understand the game play. Frederic does a faaaaantastic job easing the player into more difficult levels. I struggled with this game at first, but each day I saw myself get better. Not just learning the notes, but also being quicker and more accurate. Not only that, Frederic gives you a deep appreciation of the music, by crafting the keys through the spirit of the song. When I am in the flow, getting the keys of a difficult song with barely a thought, I feel like I am right there jamming with Frederic. It is a moving experience.

This game uses the Unity Game Engine. It takes 1,700 MBs of diskspace. I played this game with the keyboard only, with an ubuntu linux desktop with radeon mesa graphic drivers, but it needed a Steam Launch Option fix to start.

I recommend this game to anyone who can appreciate music, and it will show them a deeper appreciation for music, tonality, and rhythm. The Frederic games are some of my favorite Steam games, and I keep coming back to them again and again. I am very grateful for the experiences.

This game is going to require an investment of your time. It is a challenging game, even at the easiest levels. You want a great rhythm game for a great price? You will have a great time learning the Frederic's songs. Also, your purchase price also gets you all the game songs as MP3 local files. This is easily the best "price for enjoyment" game that I have in my steam llibrary!

Having fun with this on ubuntu linux. Pretty simple, repetitive twinstick gameplay combined with some nice upgrade paths and a decent story. Good for a few laughs, but becomes very dull after a short while.
There is a super extensive upgrade system that would be great for another game, but with the the lackluster gameplay here, it is hard to imagine playing enough to explore many of the upgrade tree branches.

A reserved recommendation. The visual novel parts are excellent, but the mouse-click gameplay is not good. Did you play the old Police Quest games, way back when? Very same vibe, with even more jokey simulation attitude, almost like the Papers Please game.

The adventure stories are really the best part, with the level-intro station scene: collegues BS'ing with that theme song. But the gameplay is a clickfest, which could be a lot better, honestly. Who thought doubleclicking constantly would be fun? Also the mission objectives are never made very clear, so it is easy to make mistakes. Plus, the game throws weird, one-try, timed mini-games at the unsuspecting player. Then, after the level, the game offers a redo option, but that would be mean more painful clicking. I always just went into the next level, for the next chapter of jokey humor back at the station.

Beat Cop is recommended when you can find it at deep discount. It is not going to be for everyone, and there is not a lot of replay value, even when it connects with you. There are some good parts, and it is a step in the right direction from This War is Mine.
