everything i like about jrpgs and almost none of the stuff i don't like. very good art and music, very fun combat system that evolves enough to not get stale (especially once you get sky armors), an absurd amount of modernity/qol to keep the pace brisk. the story and characters are probably the weakest, but they're not bad, just not super engaging. but i still like the characters because of their very strong combat identities. there's also a class system that is surprisingly not cumbersome and doesn't feel grindy, instead it feels more like youre evolving specific characters

so far pretty good. unfinished but what is there is beautiful and cool. sts with mtg mechanics and touhou theming

can't speak about the balance or everything (though my impressions make it seem like rogue is very very strong), but this game is very very fun and addicting, and it has a lot of amazing art and work put into it. the only thing i dont realyl like is this is a proper deckbuilder, not a completely random one like slay the spire. so as you get meta-progression upgrades (which are plentiful, powerful, and fun), you will also get better cards to put into your starting deck. i kind of find this tiring especially as they are not direct upgrades (they have higher costs, as an example) and would rather make gametime decisions as is tradition with roguelites. but otherwise, it's awesome

this is the BR ive been the most hooked on out of all the ones ive played. the vampire themeing is definitely part of that, i love vampires and the vtm world is very cool, and the game does a great job of translating stuff from lore into game mechanics. but the gameplay itself is just so smooth, the movement combined with the awesome urban, vertical, gigantic level adds a very unique touch. the gunplay itself is fine, but combined with the powers and the ability to climb walls and zip around the map makes it really addictive and it feels like the skill ceiling is high enough to be interesting.

i also really like some of the streamlining of the BR elements, for example i dont need to really ever worry about inventory space. every individual item has its own slot with its own capacity limit. so other than guns/melee, if i see something i want i can just run over it to auto-grab it without having to worry about inventory. weapons have rarities but there aren't attachments for them or anything like that. it means i don't have to focus too much on my inventory/menuing and what im looting, and can handle all that stuff on the fly. which is good, because everything is super fast paced in the game.

the map is probably the single greatest strength of the game, there are 0 open spaces, theres cover everywhere, sometimes you want to be on the side of a building, sometimes the top, sometimes the street, it all depends on whom you are hunting, whom you are running from, and where you want to go. this changes too depending on what archetype (read: class) you play, as ones with stealth are going to play differently than those with movement abilities.

its free and they're updating it and at time of review the battlepass is free too. oh i should mention, the fashion is absolutely bonkers and addicting, its all vampire as ♥♥♥♥ and that's what i love to see. almost no normal clothing or makeup or piercings or sunglasses, its all weird ♥♥♥♥ you'd expect the strangest folk in the underground to wear. give it a try!

it's everything i liked about ocarina of time sudoku, but much larger and deeper and with a bit of QoL like additional ways to mark up, and somewhat better controls. the new puzzle gimmicks are super fun and interesting, and i like that there's puzzle generation and difficulty options so i can keep playing long after im done with all the gimmicks once.

short and sweet, pretty fun and i like the enemy and level design

opening was funny enough but i immediately got motion sickness once the true graphics kicked in. need fov slider, this is only the 2nd fps game to ever give me motion sickness lol

bad stuff out of the way first:
needs a bit more tutorialization and a bit of a better UI. i also think the newspapers should be translated after you get to a certain point in the game (or the lady could read them to you)
music is repetitive

good stuff:
really unique and fun puzzle mechanic. played this collaboratively with some friends and we all loved the concept and had a blast figuring out the words and the story.
fairly short though of course length is determined by how quickly you figure stuff out, but i have no doubt most people who are into the concept will get their $6 USD worth pretty easily. it's just so fun and satisfying to start to get full 'sentences' from the lady and feel like you really are starting to get what is going on.

very fun and cool i definitely think it's worth a shot.

it's kind of nuts how such a fantastic game from a franchise with as much name recognition as geometry wars is this overlooked. it only has 1k reviews of all time, and its been out for 8 years.

it does basically everything right, it is super polished, tons of fun, and has a great soundtrack.
