Having wrestled since '82, Shane Douglas had already been from WCW to WWF, and back again before joining ECW. In 1993 he appeared as The Franchise. His arrogance came to a head when he threw the NWA World Heavyweight Championship into the trash, and declared the ECW Championship a world title. It is said that symbolic action kicked off the era of extreme. Douglas lost his final ECW Championship to Taz.
