SparrowHawk Class Gunship - No mods

Description
Entry for UESC Contest 39

The Sparrow Hawk Class is a single person gunship, designed to deliver a devastating blow far exceeding what you would expect from a ship of it's size.
The Sparrow Hawk is generally the first line of defence for newly established colonies in contested regions.

Armament:
2 x Gatling Guns
2 x Rocket Launcher
2 x Optically guided missiles (Just point with the main ship where you want the missile to go, you can change it's direction mid flight to avoid AA fire)

Suggested attack patterns:
  • Gatling guns are best against enemy drones deployed against you
  • Rocket launchers in conjunction with the targeting camera are best used to 'snipe' the turrets of enemy bases
  • The optical guided missiles are for when a normal rocket just won't do it! But be aware they are vulnerable to enemy AA fire.

Special thanks to Whiplash141 and his incredible missile script

Hey can you make a blueprint for the O.G.M (optical guided missile) because it's difficult to...well reload them.Thx

Reminds me of the Starflier from Freelancer. Tried getting that shape once, utterly failed. Great job on the design :)

still good ship though. Small. Preformance friendly. Unique design.

@purple chapter. Well seeing as this is a made up spaceship I created I guess it is just random nonsense!

What exactly is "SparrowHawk Class" - would you care to expand on that ? Or is it just random nonsense?
Ship is not bad.

ah, thanks man! to be honest, i'm sort of trying to recreate a working version of the Isanth v starfighter from Starmade (a similar game to Space Engineers,) because it looks cool. it's a pirate vessel, usually, but it's still fun.

@Stormchaser. I could make a space version at some point. The contest that I entered this for is based on Mars so I didn't need to worry about escaping the atmosphere. In terms of powering things particularly for small ships can be challenging if you are trying to build really small. The sparrowhawk has two small reactors and two batteries in the main fuselage which work really nicely. The batteries are really good at supplying large amounts of power in short bursts which is what you need in a ship with so many engines. The equivalent power from just reactors would require many many more reactors! Also with posting things save it as a blueprint in game. Look at ship and press control+b. Then go to your blueprint menu (Crtl+F10), select the ship and then click details and finally click publish. Look forward to seeing your work in the future!

@BC. I did not know about the insect! I've gone for a bird theme with the ships I enter into contests. The previous ones I made where colonization themed so they had friendly bird names like kingfisher. Now that the contests are military themed I've gone for birds of prey!
Lathy...or is it 27 Jul, 2017 @ 1:11am
Is this named after the insect that attacks tarantulas?

Looks nice either way.

also, i'm still trying to figure out how powering things works in general, so...
