Legions of Rome: Specialised Garrisons

This is an addon mod to Legions of Rome, but should also work independantly.
The mod is currently for the WRE only. It replaces the default Limitanei//Cohors garrisons in WRE towns and cities, with specialised units.

NEW UNITS

Custodes Urbanae
A defensive spear infantry containing a mixture of local militia, but also recruiting many battle hardened veterans of limitanei units who wish to serve their last years in their own provinces. Like the Vigiles of old, their duties include firefighting and suppressing public disorder, but they are trained and organised along legionary lines to defend their homes against enemy raids. Stats lie between borderguards and comentatasis spears. Default garrison unit in all towns and cities.

Cohortes Urbanae
The Roman Urban Cohorts, the elite unit of Rome itself, now exists as a police force in larger towns and cities. Their domestic duties include acting as bodyguards for local officials, but do not mistake this for weakness. They are recruited almost exclusively from veteran legionaries, and are handsomely rewarded for their extra service. These units will appear in larger town and in cities.

Legio Castrorum
Garrison unit from the garrison building line. They are the resident units of garrison encampments within towns. Upgrading your guardhouses will generate more of these cohorts.


OTHER CHANGES

Replenishment increase for WRE
Unfortunately the game engine starts all WRE non-default garrisons at 40% health. The only way to prevent this is to edit startpos (which I didn't want to do). I've instead added a small replenishment buff for WRE meaning that your garrisons will be at a reasonable fighting strength after one or two turns. Without this you will be destroyed by the a.i. on turn two of v hard / legendary!

Improved garrison building line
To encourage garrison buildings to be built, I have increased their public order benefits. With the WRE public order issues, there should be good reason to build them in most of your border towns, thus also increasing your garrison.

Onager balancing
For some reason the WRE was the only faction not to get more onagers with city size. I've changed this so it is in line with other empires, and large cities will have more onagers.


This is not a historical mod! The units are made up :). Recommend playing this with Legions of Rome. Enjoy!

Interesting mod, fixed the clipping helmet issue of the Cohortes Urbanae, and right now I'm working on the garrisons. It shouldn't be too easy: 'Make Attila hard again' :steammocking:

It took some time but in the end the fix is easy, put the ''att_roman_heavy_ridge_helmets_crest.variantmeshdefinition'' from Models3 in the VariantMeshDefinitions file from the Cohortes Urbanae. Open these files with PackFileManager.

And I found the solution for some other small issues, for instance the disappering cavalry garrison units. Their code is overwritten in the building_level_armed_citizenry table.

Maybe I can adjust the mod and upload it again. The author has written that it's ok.

Greetings, the units do not appear in the settlements' garrisons, any idea what could be causing this?

subscribed but the unites not seen in campaign. Buildings info showns only standart vanila garrison - limitanae bodyguard, cohors and equites.
New units are only in custom battles(((

Great mod, I gave such a blast playing it ! Would it be possible to recruit those units using the garrison building line (maybe tier 3 and 4, to keep a sort of balnce) ?

great mod, love the blue colors! I'm not sure if its an issue in campaign, but in custom battle the helmets for the Cohortes Urbanae are clipping/missing
