Description
Era - Early 1980s - CWA Memphis

An absolute enigma, Andy Kaufman seamlessly melded his particular brand of performance art with professional wrestling. Proclaiming himself to be the Intergender Wrestling Champion of the World, he wrestled women for a monetary prize.

Later, Kaufman went to the Memphis territory, insulted the fans and got his neck broken by Jerry Lawler's piledriver. This led to an infamous appearence on Late Night with David Letterman, where Lawler slapped an injured Kaufman, who retaliated by throwing a mug of coffee in his face.
