Daedelus-class Light Cruiser (UNSC Icarus)

Description
Following the launch and success of their flagship, Infinity, the UNSC needed a lighter craft capable of performing a similar role. After many prototypes and test stages of development, the Daedelus-class Light Cruiser was commissioned. The first ship launched, Icarus, was designed as a support craft to the Infinity, capable of high volume fighter deployment and long range reconnaisance. Warp capable and moderately armed, the UNSC Icarus can and will perform all tasks needed of a Light Cruiser.

Ship Specifications
24 sections spread out across 7 decks. All 7 decks are accessable through a Main Elevator.
First Deck, or Main Deck, consists of Primary Engineering Systems that allow the Icarus to operate independently from the rest of the Fleet. The systems listed below combine to become Primary Engineering.
1. Materials Storage - Consists of 104 containers, allowing a massive capacity for transporting materials or goods.
2. Main Manufacturing - Operating 12 Constructors, Main Manufacturing can convert enormous quantities of material into tradable or usable goods.
3. Forward Battery - Combines the Rotational Control Systems and Forward Gravity Generator into one convienient access point.
4. Primary Fuel Storage - Housing 78 Fuel Tanks, the Icarus can operate for extended periods of time without needing to refuel.
5. The Main Entryway into the ship is accessed through doors below the Bridge, and this room leads directly into Materials Storage (Fwd) or the Main Elevator (Aft). Above Main Entry, lies Operations and the Bridge. Both are accessable through the Main Elevator.

Second Deck, or the Ventral Hall, consists of the Officers Lounge/ Quarters and Hydroponics 1.
1. The Ventral Hall spans the gap between the Officers Quarters and Hydroponics. The function of this room is classified, but is claimed to be a form of heat management and spacial dispersion.
2. Hydroponics 1 - Consisting of 110 growing plots, the crew can grow their own food during their long flights and deployment cycles.
3. Officer Lounge and Quarters - Aft of the Main Elevator, lies the Officers Lounge, which leads to Officer Quarters and the Captains Cabin. 4 rooms have been specially designed to provide for and accomodate the most senior officers onboard. Each room has its own dedicated washroom and kitchen, alongside a classy living space. The Captains Cabin is as one would expect: Spacious, luxourious, "Fit for a KIng".

Third Deck, or the Crew Deck, consists of the living spaces for the crew, Medical Bays, and Hydroponics 2.
1. 26 two-man rooms leave plenty of space for the crew to reside. Each room offers adequate storage space and amenities that the same man or woman would on an Orbital Station, or even on Earth. Aft of Main Elevator, the crew has access to a washroom and Mess Hall.
2. 2 Medical Bays allow for a large volume of personnel to be treated for any injuries sustained in the Icarus' endeavours. Each Bay has its own Clone Chamber, O2 Station, and Food Processor, allowing them to function entirely separate from each other.
3. Hydroponics 2 - Boasting the same number of growing plots as HP1, HP2 allows for even greater food production.

Fourth Deck, or Secondary Systems, is separated into Forward and Aft sections. Fourth Deck consists Aft Manufacturing, Aft Battery, Hangar Observation, and Hydroponics 3.
1. Aft Manufacturing - An additional 4 Constructors and 4 small containers rest in this section, allowing for more advanced construction projects, or dedicated component creation for use by the crew to maintain the ship.
2. Aft Battery - Consisting of additional Generators and another Gravity Generator, Aft Battery is a slighty less used area of the ship, despite its impact on capability.
3. Hangar Observation - Two rooms, one to each side of the Main Elevator, overlook the Hangar. From here, crew can manage traffic through the Hangar, and communicate with the bridge as needed.
4. Hydroponics 3 - A slightly smaller production room, HP3 contains 80 growing plots for an increase in production. Two elevators, one on each side of this section, run directly up through to Deck One, connecting the Forward Battery and all three Hydroponics, for ease of access.

Fifth Deck, or the Flight Deck, consists of the Hangar Bay forward of the Main Elevator, and Oxygen Storage aft of the Main Elevator.
1. Hangar Bay - The massive hangar bay provides a phenomal level of space for fighters and troop transports to maneuver and takeoff, without needless hazards to other aircraft and personnel on the deck.
2. Oxygen Storage - Consisting of 32 O2 Tanks for a total of 64000 units, the ship can be pressurized almost 3 times over without needing to refill its oxygen reserves.

Sixth Deck, or Primary Ship Operation Systems, consist of the main sources of power generation and Warp Generation. Alongside these systems, ammunition storage and secondary fuel reserves are situated within the following sections.
1. Before entering the Warp Core, crew will be able to access all ammunition sources for the ships weapon systems. With 40 containers, the Icarus can hold an enormous quantity of ammunition to fight nearly any foe.
2. The Warp Core, as made obvious, is the ships interstellar lifeline. The Warp Core and Pentaxid Tank are easily accessable for ease of maintenance and refuelling.
3. Main Battery - Comprising of a Gravity Generator and Primary Power Generators, alongside secondary fuel storage, the Main Battery is the Icarus' heart. With 74 Generators in the Main Battery (coupled with 6 from Aft battery), the Icarus provides 4000 MW of power. Secondary Fuel Storage is accessable through this section.

Seventh Deck, or the Lower Lounge, provides a large gathering place for all members of the crew.
1. A large bar allows crewman to grab some food or drink, then relax at one of the tables.
2. Or, a crewman can step into the Lower Lounge, which doubles as an observation deck. A wonderfully large panoramic view provides a beautiful look into the cosmos, without being too obstructed by the ship that houses said lounge.

THE END
I re-built this ship as a side project, as the existing one was rather plain and empty, and used a few design elements of my own, alongside existing features from the original ship. Reminiscient of the UNSC Infinity, the UNSC Icarus came to life as something more than a floating hangar bay as the Original Author created it to be (He may have had something else planned, but hasnt updated his version in over a year). Please go support ceckz for his amazing creation, the first iteration of the Icarus, and feel free to suggest any changes or make comments about this fine vessel to me in the comments.

Bring it to the stars, let its strength be known.

@Calagan I have no problems with that. I was thinking about doing it myself, but I dont play the game anymore, so it would be hard for me to tell what the ship needs.

Hello, I plan to update this ship to V1.x, based on your refit from ceckz initial work.
Let me know i you agree with that

The ship is a year and a half old, and I havent updated it to function as it should with new game mechanics. I'll look into doing that soon, but no guarantees on when.

Might be too late, but you also have to account for atmospheric density whilst flying in atmo. Increases fuel consumption and reduces speed.

Which planet did you take it to? I tested it on Akua, and it worked fine. There's a screenshot to prove it. XD

EDIT: Now that I think about it, I'm not too sure if the devs have added a cargo weight system to ship flight dynamics. I'd been through the changelogs over the past few months and didn't see anything in there about modifying flight dynamics with weight in containers on a ship. Unless I'm just being dumb (completely possible) and overlooking the fact that it already existed (also possible), please soeone tell me so I can incorporate it into future builds and modify this ship to ease the need of all of you changing it.

Small update, while planetside the bottom thrusters aren't powerful enough to lift. I've added bottom thrusters to the engine end as there were none, which have improved it.

Absolute gold mate, I like how there is still much of the ship left for the player to play with.

To all of you have subscribed so far, thank you!
If you all play Space Engineers, Im working on re-building this ship there as best as I can, with as few mods as possible. Im aiming for none, but given the quality of some mods on the workshop it may be difficult to pass some up.
