Description
Very nice helicopter. Probably my favorite. It is just beautiful and it flies like a dream. There is one small weakness though. The main rotor can break off if you pitch up too hard while flying at near max speed. I wish I could fix this problem but it's very difficult. If I make even the smallest alterations to it, it will become very wobbly. Two-bladed rotor systems tend to vibrate a lot. I would literally need to spend many hours making it as smooth as it is now if I try to strengthen the rotor system.

Controls:

Engine Start: 1 or right shift

Collective/Thrust: I,K (Makes the helicopter go up and down)

Pitch/Roll: Arrow keys (Pitch makes the nose go up and down, roll makes the helicopter move from side to side)

Yaw: J,L (Turns the helicopter)

Weapons:

Nose-mounted Grenade Launcher: Left control

Cluster Rockets: U, O

Miniguns: Numpad 0

Yes, I've read about that. There was a video on youtube about it but now I can't find it. However, I have since made an updated version that doesn't break.

I don't know exactly what you mean with the clutch mechanism. If you want it to autorotate, simply turn off the engine.

Having the tail rotor and main rotor being powered by the same motor wheel probably wouldn't work very well. You would need to use cogs, and they don't work well at high speeds.

Also the real Huey has the same problem with main rotor braking off as this one, although the mechanism behind it is slightly different (look up mast bumping), so it's fine. The only thing that would make this design better is some form of a clutch (and minimal rotor pitch below zero) to allow for autorotation. And possibly the tail rotor being powered by the same block as the main rotor, not sure if that is possible in Besiege though.

The Besiege rotorcraft are mesmerizing... the only other "game" where the whole mechanics of the main rotor hub are realistically simulated is X-Plane I think...
