There is one thing to be said about pirates, they just don't quit. Even with the deployment of several anti fighter, anti ship, and mixed role designs, the DFC still lost the occational shipment to the brigands. A trend was soon discovered, most of the cargo ships lost were attacked INSIDE what was assumed to be a secure perimeter, by fast, hard to detect fighter type craft, bringing with them enough fire power to take down an isolated cargo ship after its escort had split off to refuel. The solution was a small, affordable, deadly anti fighter Corvette that could keep pace with the enemy, and maneuver at high speed closer to the docks.

The Talon is armed with four Vulcan gatling turrets, and maneuvers like an interceptor, perfect for any local mission it might have. The downside is the Talon has no FTL drive. In DFC classifications, this, combined with its small size, is what gives it its Corvette status.

During the Imperium Total War, these ships became insturmental in turning away the tide of expendable fighters the Imperium favored so much, and were deployed with attack fleets with the aid of jump drive booster rings.
