The most revered figure in the history of Lucha Libre, El Santo transcended professional wrestling to become a cultural touchstone, a national hero for his victories, and beloved for his lengthy filmography in which he mixed lucha wrestling and fights against vampires and mummies. In the ring, he was an excellent technician on the mat who could leave the mat with the grace of a bird, a perpetual champion, and Mexico City's greatest draw.
