Left in Silence [Sound Challenge Mod]

Description
*NOTE* This is a mod intended to make L4D2 more difficult for seasoned and expert players. It is a handicap for an additional challenge. In order to work effectively, you should disable music and subtitles.

With Left in Silence, special infected no longer make idle or alerted sounds. To be more specific, this mod replaces the typical idle or alert lines (for example, a hunter's growl, a smoker's cough, or a tank's heavy breathing) with silence. All special infected will remain as quiet as possible until the moment of attack (with the exception of the witch, who will not cry or sob but will still growl as normal when you get too close; I feel that making her totally silent is unfair in Expert/Realism/ER). They will still make all the regular sounds of attack, getting hit, and dying.

On top of this, survivors no longer call out the name of the special infected they see or hear. The standard warning lines (e.g., "I hear a hunter") are replaced with silence. This also means you won't hear anything if someone's spamming a vocalizer like "Boomer!" They will, however, still let you know if someone is currently being pinned by any infected or if they're stepping in spitter acid or if they're vomitted on. The only lines muted are those recognizing the special infected (including the witch getting angry) before attack. They will say their normal tank lines once the tank is triggered.

The main purpose of this mod is to force the player to: 1) be much more aware of the surroundings visually rather than relying on the obvious audio clues; 2) be able to predict the spawn time of the next group of special infected; and 3) learn to recognize, locate, and distinguish between the special infected footstep sounds (both falling and walking) since those haven't been muted.

I have played this on Normal with bots without much trouble. However, it is probably recommended that you don't actually play this in Versus unless you're an expert or host. I also don't really recommend this with other players unless they all have the mod, as it could get annoying having other players know what special infected are around while you don't and it could also make you a liability.

N.B. Stay together. Seriously.

About the file size: unfortunately because there were over 1000 lines changed to silence, I can't get the file size any lower. So I'm sorry about the relatively large file size but it can't be helped.

For even more difficulty on Expert and Realism, this Left in Silence mod works well with the Silent Common Infected add-on found here.

Sorry, that would have to be done with scripts. This addon actually edits the sound files (.wav) themselves. You'd have to have one addon enabled and one disabled or deal with the conflicting addons.

Can you make it so that the mod doesn't conflict with other survivor/infected sound mods? I'm using the MRV mod for the survivors and custom sounds for all the infected.

Okay, good to know.

It only applies to the person subscribed. Also I didn't touch the music,, it says in the description that you should disable music and subtitles yourself.

is this a script or is the music of the special zombie only muted for but not for other players?

I didn't make the second video, you'd have to contact Coin Slot Gaming and ask them. It looks like it might be something CS:GO related, but not sure.
