1 cool thing about this mod, is that a lot of animals (who might be hungry form time to time, if i forget to rotate them around the map grazing zones), can actually eat spare chocolate from the map
But yes, backing up is best practise, I definitely do that every time I add a mod... >.> (if you have a years old save you're attached to, absolutely do back up, I enjoy early game so starting over is not a problem for me)
hi it should be, i think thats how i first added it into my game back in an early version in or before v1.2. one thing you can do though in general, is to always make a quick backup of your savegames and ludeon folder etc, before adding in a mod to play safe.

but you might be able to use them to set up an in-game message alert, when a chocolate suddenly appears on you map (before any hungry people or animals gobble it up) :)
if it wasnt for this chocolate bunbuns mod, my main save game (still running v1.2) colonists would have starved
