Stargate Command

Description
ABOUT THIS PROJECT: Sorry all, I have lost interest in making this after I accidently deleted the files trying to fix a steamvr problem and the only backups I have are from when I first started the project (they are not even in a good enough condition to release so other can use it)

This map is centred around Stargate Command, as this is your home all the Stargates lead back to here.

Features:
• Working Stargate - it spins, it lights up, it makes sounds and it opens, you can walk through it and get transported but sorry no kawoosh, I tried to make a particle effect for a long time but failed.
• SGC - working lights, doors, sounds and iris.
• Abydos - Explore inside and outside of abydos
• Praxyon - solar observatory from Stargate continuum
• Atlantis - working lights, doors, sounds and iris.

How to:
• Get to the SGC control room - Click on they gray door control to the right of the gate room door.
• Open Stargate in the SGC - Click on the text on the monitor in the control room.
• Toggle SGC Iris - Click on any of the two hand scanners

Q&A
Q: How to go through the Stargate?
A: Put your head through the event horizon (the big blue puddle)

Warning you may get some frame drops in the SGC control room and you may get a lot of frame drops when you turn on all the lights, sounds and the Stargate in the SGC.

Thanks to:
CAP - (Carters Addon Pack) from Gmod for the Stargate models, materials and sounds.
Rectus - Teleport script
Valve - Models and textures from HL2 and CSS
Flyboi - for allowing me to use his Atlantis map from Gmod

Honestly I would love to revisit a smaller scale Stargate VR project where I'd make actual VR focused assets for it as well using the latest technologies to create them, that would be an excellent opportunity and way to gain experience, but I doubt anyone would be interested and motivated enough to not only start but actively continue with such a project.

If however there are talented people with prior or are open to gain new experience in this field then I'd love to team up, so feel free to contact me if anyone would be interested that is.

Either way thanks for making this and utilising various of my assets from CAP.

I was wondering if anyone made something SG related, thanks for doing so, shame to hear the misfortune of the file deletion, I had that happen myself on several occasions when I still worked on models and textures for CAP, which is also nice to see my assets being used in this way so I can now check them out in VR... Even though they never were meant to be used for such use cases as they are far from the right fidelity 😅

God... this is the best thing I have seen and will probably see in Virtual Reality in my lifetime. At first I signed up for this “world” and just walked around in the hangar, not suspecting that it was working. I called a friend and said, “Dude, you'll never believe where I am now...” and turned on the broadcast. I showed him the gates, their height and grandeur, I wanted to feel it all.
Ten years have passed since I finished watching this great story.. I almost cried with happiness when I heard these sounds dear to my heart.. I typed Atlantis.. went down to the hall and stood like a fool looking at the event horizon..
Imagine my surprise when I “just for fun” walked through the gate and actually found myself in a different place... There is no point in telling further because I have already announced serious spoilers. Only a true fan can understand this ecstasy. I wish the author good health. I hope one day the Asgards will come and give you eternal life .

I have to say that I am sad that I came late to see this, and I REALLY wish it was still up

I had almost no interest in exploring home environments, but today, I had time to lose, so I downloaded few. I saw yours and though "Meh, It'll probably be dull and uneventful".
And honestly, this is the best map I've tried so far. I was a kid again, making puppy noises seeing the gate dialing. I had to call my bestfriend on discord to stream it to him.
You made my day, and I'm already placing screens so I can set it as my home in VR.

Thanks for your amazing work. :metalhorns:

This is absolutely amazing! So sorry for both you and the community that your source files were lost. My wife and I both love Stargate; she has no real interest in VR, but I put her in the headset and she went bonkers! She was so happy! Thanks for the work you did do - it is absolutely amazing!

@Arc You have to open the menu that has the props/quests/environments etc. Then select environments and you should be able to scroll/switch pages.

Idk what you're using, but on the Index you press B to bring up the menu
