Era - 1950s / 1960s - JWA / Tokyo Pro / IWA

Considered the first Japanese born wrestler to win a world championship, Toyonobori would always exist in the shadow of his long time tag partner Rikidozan. Toyonobori came from a sumo background, and became one of the top stars in Japan, and won nine tag reigns with four different titles. His style was both influenced by his sumo background(as was his lack of footwear in the ring) and included a variety of stretching submissions.
