I have tried that multiple times on other maps. Can't do it. Can't move sideways in mid air. And it was never used in the portal 1 campaign. The first time I saw the move was a fan made map.

Put portal on floor. Put other portal on block above that. Jump into floor portal and come out of upper portal and move over and reenter floor portal and now you go twice as high and will land on platform above.

Alas I don't know what that is. I confirm I played through Portal 1 a number of times in the day.

You just use the Portal 1 re-fling method.

I tried to fling from the ground up to the first level. The wall is not high enough so I cannot fling that high.

If I do as you describe for the first fling, even if I crouch I hit my head on the fizzler, ofc killing the portals. Maybe something has changed in the physics?

Honestly I don't really remember. lol. I do know that there is no need to get both cubes up top, so you probably did it as intended. Thanks for playing.
