Description
Drop Shuttle-37B Utility Shuttle

NO MODS, Survival Ready.

This particular ship is designed as a medium shuttle to operate in zero gravity, around gravity wells, and in atmosphere. As such, it is built around a hydrogen system powering twin vertical thrusters to help when hauling cargo under gravity. Can operate with just a single pilot and there is also an optional 'gunner' seat on the dorsal side, immediately aft of a gatling turret. Both seats are connected to oxygen.

Operating as a transport, there are two side 'rumble' seats and a set of clamps beneath the tail for transporting small amounts of cargo. Internal cargo space is limited, the design depends on the clamps for transporting large quantities of materials and equipment. Four hardpoints on the nose can be modified with different equipment. Rocket launchers are standard but can be swapped for guns, cargo pods, engines, sensors, or left empty to save weight.

DIFFERENCES: Compared to the 'A' model, the wings on the 'B' model have been expanded to make room for twin large atmospheric engines. Overall mass increased by about 10,644kg. Able to cruise in atmosphere for extended periods of time without hydrogen!

Stats:

General:
Blocks: 958
Length: 16 meters (32 blocks)
Width: 11.5 meters (23 blocks)
Height: 5 meters (10 blocks normal, 12 including turret ghost)
Mass: 70,237kg loaded, 64,500kg empty
Environment: Zero Gravity, Low Gravity, Standard Gravity, Heavy Gravity

Performance:
ION Engine hover rated at ???G basic load, ???G with 10,000kg cargo. (need to recalculate)
Hydrogen hover rated ???G basic load, ???G with 10,000kg cargo.
Atmospheric hover rated at ???G basic load, ???G with 10,000kg cargo.
Drops into and out of 1.1G environment tested with 10,000 kg cargo, refueling advised between trips.
NOTE: Some tail thrusters located on the tail above cargo clamps can be deactivated when carrying larger cargo but will slightly reduce lifting capacity.

Features:
2 internal oxygen-fed, 2 external seats (1 pilot, 3 passengers)
Cargo clamps beneath tail section for transporting containers or ultralight vehicles
4 nose 'hardpoints' for weapons or equipment
Ventral connector for docking, refueling, and rearming.

Weapons:
2 Gatling Guns
1 Gatling Turret
4 Rocket Pods (optional)

Powerplant:
1 Large Reactor
1 Battery
Total: 19.307 MW
1 Hydrogen Tank
ION propulsion, vertical-axis hydrogen thrusters, Atmospheric thrusters

Subsystems:
Emergency Locator Beacon
Camera
Antenna
Remote Control Block

Thank you, I'll try to address that in the next sweep.

Both A & B have Antenna's Are Not Broadcasting
C & D Have Broadcasting Enabled
Please Fix

However, if you absolutely require horizontal thrusters, I suggest mounting a pair or two on the nose hardpoints. You would be trading some firepower for maneuverability but at least total mass should be similar. I will add some extra ice as well but how much depends a lot on the host server settings for container storage and again: more ice is more weight.

That right there is the dilema. The challenge of these drop shuttles is weight management. I tried to stuff as many thrusters into it as I could to maximise vertical thrust and save weight. The DS-37 can comfortably handle about 10,000kg in terrible flight conditions and maybe a bit more under better conditions. Atmospheric engines are unusually heavy, just one pair of small atmo. thrusters have a mass over 1,000kg which would reduce the useful payload capacity by 10%.

The solution I would suggest is, instead of sidestepping (lateral strafing) with thrusters, roll the ship slightly and create a 'horizontal component of lift.' In other words, you would take a fragment of your very strong lift energy and divert it into sideways motion. This is how helicopters fly and best of all, it won't require any mass to do.

I've Been Testing The Shuttles and the new cargo pods and there manouvability. i found an issue with both shuttles.
they both Have The Same Weakness in Atmosphere.

Side Thuster Propulsion, It Needs Either A Couple Atmospheric Thrusters, or Hydrogen thrusters to move easier left/right to allign to the pods.

Other than that they need more ice in the generator.

Thank you. This may very well be my most useful creation. There are two more shuttles coming, the C and D variants as soon as I can finish their testing and take the screenshots and stuff I need of them. They're kind of like "Navy" versions of the A and B variants, they're modified to be a little narrower and quite a bit shorter so that they'll fit into certain 5x6x3 block ship airlocks that I use.

As for the pods, my plan is to make a new collection for them and then put the entire collection in the 'Pirate/R.U.S.T. Fleet' collection as one item.
