Lost Arts of Alchemy

***

When the dragons went away so long ago, many secrets of alchemy were lost with them.
Now that the dragons have returned, some ancient secrets of alchemy have returned.

There is a new crafting table, called the "alchemist workspace".
Using this table you can access these new alchemy pieces of knowledge.

Anyone can these workspaces to powder bones, scales, and gems. These are potent ingredients for alchemy in their own right.

Those who learn the perks of alchemy will gain access to the knowledge of four greats works.
With some effort the four great works can be completed. But one will need dragons bones and scales. (Thus why this knowledge has been lost until now)
These four great works can then be combined to make a philosopher's stone.

Once you have a philosopher's stone, you will be able to make some potent potions and perform a variety of transmutations heretofor unseen.

***

There are alchemical workspaces in Arcadia's Cauldron (upstairs), the midden of Winterhold, and in the Hall of RUmination in Blackreach.

I have tried to keep the possible interference down with other addons. The alchemy tree is untouched. The recipes depend upon existing perks, Alchemist 4/5, Experimenter 2/3, Concentrated POison, and Green thumb.

***

2012 January 1 - added: Those with the Poisoner perk can draw out Corrupting essence from various materials. They can then use this with the powdered ingredients to make corrupted versions.
-added: A workspace to the upstairs of the White Phial in Windhelm.

@Zezssinator@ The stone doesn't actually have any powers apart from turning metal into gold and granting eternal life. @DigitalWinslow@ On that topic, could you make it so the stone gives you a very large amount of health?

Great mod, but do you think the Philosopher's Stone could also increase your mana (like your accessing the stones vast power) just an idea. Thanks!

i have the same question as cam. what are the "variety of transmutations" that you stated?
King of Amazons 17 Jul, 2014 @ 3:46pm
What kind of transmutations are there?

Daniel, if you go to Arcadia's in Whiterun (upstairs loft) to the alchemical workspace and click on it, scroll down to the bottom. You'll see what materials you'll need to create these stones (thus discovering the "works"). It's alot of fun just running around collecting the items for these stones, adding yet another "quest" for the Dragonborn...
