Haunted House by ChefKef

Description
My mother taught me never to break into empty houses. I wish she told that to the twin brothers Barlow.

Jack and Dan Barlow were great friends of mine. We met in kindergarten and have been friends since.

One rusty day in autumn (at the age of 7) we played that game I now hate; truth or dare. I always thought a dare was way cooler than telling the truth. Men, I’ve never been so wrong in my whole life.

You see, there was that one building in the village. That one creepy house, hit by a lightning and destroyed with a storm but never restored or renovated. Nobody lived there for years, even not since my mother’s youth; she told me.

That one day, October the 7th, I dared Dan to stay in the house for ten minutes.
We were kids, we had no idea. I called Dan a sissy, not knowing what impact it would bring. “Shut up!”: he yelled at me. Jack suggested an easy way out. They would go inside the house together for only five minutes, so together it would be ten minutes.
The Barlows went inside and I waited by their bikes, one was decorated with flags we found earlier. They closed the door behind them and a heavy wind started to blow around. The wind became so strong that I had to pick up Jack’s bike which happened to be blown over. It felt like forever, waiting alone and no one to interact with.

After I while, I thought it was definitely longer than 5 minutes. I stood up and got to the front door, opened it and hear Jack scream: “Go away Kef”. “Go away before it gets you too”: said the voice of Dan.

I just thought they were messing with me, until all the doors slammed at the exact same moment and the piano at the indoor hall started randomly playing. The front door was still open, I screamed and ran.

Men, it still gives me the shivers when I think back about that moment.
October the 7th, 1995. The last day I ever played truth or dare, the last day I’ve seen the Barlow brothers.
