Unlike the hydrogen reaction drive of the original cruiser, the Plowshare leverages the near-limitless power of the Galactic Sparkle Drive. Essentially an anti-gravity system, the Sparkle Drive enables the Plowshare to operate in an atmosphere as well as between planets, even to hover over interesting research sites.
