Description
OBOW: Pronounced "oboe" (yes, like the instrument), it stands for "Overseer's Balance Overhaul for Weapons".

This is a script that completely rebalances the M16 Assault Rifle, with a more realistic approach. You'll only have a real-world 30-round magazine to work with, but I've increased some other stats to maintain balance, with the biggest changes being damage and piercing. This weapon will now kill Commons in one shot on Advanced, and two shots on Expert. And since L4D2 Commons have been shown to die from a high-powered bullet through the chest, the the M16's 5.56x45mm ammunition should be enough to stop a Common permanently, for those concerned with realism. If you want it even more brutal, play on Expert and Commons will take two shots. Range and piercing have been reworked too, adding damage reduction to far off targets or secondary-pierced targets. Still, this gun will be very deadly, just be careful with your aim.

There are quite a few other, smaller changes too, such as increased reload speed. All edits are listed below.

Here's the list of stat changes:

VerticalPunch - 1.2 to UNCHANGED
SpreadPerShot - 0.75 to X
MaxSpread - 30 to UNCHANGED
SpreadDecay - 5 to 12.5

@[ADM] Itachi:
CycleTime is the fire rate of the weapon. The lower the value, the faster it fires.

Any way to change the max ammo you can carry?

No worries. :) I'm glad you like them!

Thank you for taking a bit of time out of your day to fix that. It feels alot better now and all 3 rifles are fine, at least to me.

Okay, so I modified and rebalanced the three Gritty Realism rifle scripts. They should be working fine now, but feel free to let me know if you find any more issues. :)

Oh wow, really? That is definitely unintentional. I'll get a fix out ASAP. Thanks for reporting the issue, and thanks for the kind words, it means a lot. :)

EDIT:
Okay, I just went into the game and tested it myself. At first, I was confused, since I was successfully oneshotting Commons every time. I had a thought, and tried it at longer ranges, and that's where the problem occurred. Anything beyond a few meters is a two-shot kill. I will fix this, but not just with a simple fix. I'm going to fiddle with the weapons a bit and rebalance all three of my Gritty Realism rifles. Just as a warning, you might not like what I end up with, since having a range where this gun is a twoshot kill actually appeals to me. It'll be a bit further than it is now though. :)

I love all the work you've put into all of your weapon scripts so far. I actually use mostly only yours as I'm finding them more fun to use and kill things with but without making them feel too overpowered like some people make them. I use all 3 of your gritty realism assault rifle scripts and the only one I'm having issues with is this one. The description says it should be one shotting commons on advanced, but it doesn't. After at least 6 full campaign playthroughs I've found the M16 underwelming compared to the other 2 assault rifles because of having a lack of killing efficiency, it tends to run out of ammo faster then the other 2 options most of the time even if I'm just tap firing. If you could possibly see about adjusting the damage a little bit so it can one shot commons on advanced like your description says, I'd appreciate that.

It does shoot slower than before, yes. But there was a good reason. Since this weapon only has a 30-round magazine now, I found myself not having enough ammo to deal with mobs, which is probably why Valve had it set to 50 as default. By slowing down the fire rate, I found that simply holding down the trigger is once again a feasible option, as there's just barely enough time between shots to switch targets, provided they're all bunched up. Also, this weapon fires at a rate of 0.095 seconds delay between shots, while the AK is all the way up at 1.2 for my AK-47 Gritty Realism script, and it's at 1.3 by default, so there's still quite a gap between the two. I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just trying to get my reasons across. ;)

Also, in the "READ BEFORE COMMENTING" section, it states: "Also, please don't send multiple comments right after one another, and combine them instead.". Otherwise it just takes up unnecessary space. If you could avoid this in the future, I'd be grateful. :)
I dont think so 16 Feb, 2018 @ 6:55am
it now shoot almost as slow as ak and the accuracy is no diffrenece to ak, it lefts me almost no reason to choose an m16 anymore
