@Trivvy
I was also one of the VA's for the mod, playing the guy you hear at the intro (and later as part of a voice recording). This was my very first voice acting gig, so for me I considered this as a learning experience as I haven't done much voice acting in other projects yet.
I followed a similar method like Trivvy said, however there was one line that Husky told me to redo which I happily abliged to do again. I initally was a bit confused about how to deliver the dialogue because I wasn't sure how the character is meant to say what he says in his situations but now that Trivvy suggests asking about personality and asking to playtest areas, it sounds like a good idea. Just to get a feel for the situation that my character's dialogue takes place in.
Anyways, thank you as well for your feedback of us voice actors!
Ayy, I'm one of the VA's for the mod, I play the English guy that you find trapped in a room, Nathan. This is actually one of the first SOMA mods I've acted for, and playing through it now I probably would have done some things a bit differently.
I did multiple takes said in different ways, and it was up to Husky which take he liked best, or give me different direction if he wanted it done another way. I played him more on the confidant side and wasn't told otherwise, so that's just how he is. For future reference I'm going to get more info on character personality than just recording lines however, and also pushing to play test so I can get a feel for it more.
Thanks for the feedback!
but where can I find them to play them?
If this mod is to short for you, go back and play Archipelago. It really gives you a nice feel of the mod itself.
Once again I really love this mod and look forward to seeing more. :) 8/10 For me.
Pros:
Decent level design and attention to detail (as with other Husky Mods)
Sound effects and music placement were good (specially at suspensful moments)
What puzzles there were, were thought out
Female voice actors were good and believable
Cons:
The first 30 seconds of the game (at least my copy), there is a partially submerged (and moving) swim suit Simon right in front of me. Kind of spoilt it a bit.
Some areas were a little empty and kind of dull looking
Male voice acting - I think you've used one or two of the guys before. One is totally wooden. The other tries, but lines are delivered flatly. I mean, if you're trapped in a certain area with no escape and being hunted, I would think you would sound a little more manic and less you've just made a coffee and realised there's no milk in the fridge...
Good effort though, and keep it up!
Thanks for the hint. I'll try it. :)
