Description
Drop Shuttle-40 Heavy Shuttle

NO MODS, Survival Ready.

This particular ship is designed as a heavy-lift shuttle to operate in zero gravity, around gravity wells, and in atmosphere. As such, it is built around a hydrogen system powering quad vertical thrusters to help when hauling cargo under gravity. Can operate with just a single pilot but there is seating for two side-by-side pilots and one dorsal gunner. Crew seats are connected to oxygen.

Operating as a transport there are two internal jumpseats aft of the crew seats and two side 'rumble' seats as well as a set of clamps beneath the tail for transporting moderate amounts of cargo. Internal cargo space includes one large cargo container, which is ample for most missions, but the design is equipped with cargo clamps beneath the tail for transporting bulky materials and equipment. Four hardpoints on the nose can be modified with different equipment. Empty by default, they can be swapped for guns, rockets, cargo pods, engines, sensors, or left empty to save weight.

MAJOR CHANGES
I've made significant modification to the tail of the DS-40. As it was, the central atmospheric thruster was destroying cargo carried underneath. I've added a second tail thruster and moved both out and away from the cargo area (the first 3 pictures show the new tail configuration, others need to be retaken). Somehow despite adding a 2nd thruster overall weight is reduced by about 5,000kg so performance is better.

I was hesitant to significantly modify a published item (normally a change like this would merit a new ship variant to be published like the A or B model) but I felt the changes fixed a significant defect in the original design and the disadvantages were almost none.

Thank you. I should probably list out my toolbars for all of my ships... I'll do this ship first when I do.

Also, that third atmospheric thruster is troublesome. I was hoping to do a redesign that keeps it on the tail but in a place that doesn't cause damage. I haven't figured out a good design so I just might have a toolbar button disable it when transporting cargo. I wouldn't prefer that since the only time you NEED the third thruster is when hauling cargo to begin with. Earlier designs had two thrusters on the tail on either side (in the fins) but far enough out so that thruster damage was a non-issue. I might try a trio of smaller ones on either side or something instead.

Firstly, this thing is awesome. I built one and i've been using it and I have a couple questions/suggestions.

1. I swapped the large atmo on the tail and the ions, beacon, camera, cargo clamps etc. so that I can use the atmo when something is clamped on. Not sure if it fits in with your vision of the ship, but maybe that would be better for other people?
2. When I built the ship the toolbar settings didn't come through property. Can you list out the toolbars for the 3 cockpits and what each thing is supposed to be so I can fix it? And for the timer block too, not sure what that's supposed to be doing.

do u think u can make a small ship like this but with a flight seat copit and interia room so i can make this a exploration with seats and tables and make a living one with a cargo port so i can attach buggies
