EQ-047

Description
Corporate titan Eqbal is a newcomer to the AGL scene, securing their entry with the recent and sudden acquisition of the Blazin’ Mars and Classic Dream Racing teams. The frontrunner for their brand new racing division is the sleek and stylish EQ-047, and Eqbal has high expectations for its performance in the 2159 season. Eqbal normally specializes in materials fabrication and wholesale liquidation, but they’ve been noticeably eager to branch out in recent years. Even so, Eqbal’s entry into the AGL was a radical move, especially considering their limited interactions with the League beforehand. The EQ-047 has effectively come out of nowhere, but its specifications look promising.

The original design was the Blazin’ Mars’ pride and joy, dubbed the Comet by the team. The Comet was designed by “Dirty” Mack Sabre as a gift to Blazin’ Mars and cobbled together from top-quality scrap, boasting breakneck acceleration and a harrowing top speed. Needless to say, it was not a craft designed with safety or sensibility in mind. After Mars’ acquisition, Eqbal’s engineers dialed back the more extreme elements of the Comet’s design in hopes of protecting their investment and their all-important ad space. Maintaining the Comet’s signature acceleration power proved difficult, however, but the answer lay in another team’s signature vehicle: Classic Dream’s Big Pill. The Big Pill would have been an unremarkable middle of the road vehicle if not for its unique engine design, a complex tri-layered system with a network of fuel lines that took weeks to make sense of. In the end, hooking the Big Pill’s engine to a more streamlined Comet gave Eqbal everything it was looking for in a racing craft.

The EQ-047 has all the hallmarks of the Eqbal design ethos: fast, cheap, and ambitiously designed. Thanks to its unique tripartite engine system, the EQ-047 is still speedy craft that handles far better than the original Comet, a solid choice for a beginner but a comfortable ride for a more experienced racer. Eqbal’s lack of experience in military tech shows, however, and the EQ-047 has weaker shields and lackluster weapons systems. Be careful about letting this beauty slip past you on the racetrack, or you might never see it again.

This is my first ship for BNG, I hope you thoroughly enjoy seeing it on the track!
I would like to give a shoutout to Applefat for his help with design revisions, and to Jim for helping with the lore!

This ship could use some tuning. It adheres to the tracks surface way too much; it isn't bouncy or smooth in it's response to changes in the surface tilting or yaw.

This is outstanding! My now favorite ship in my entire lore-friendly collection.
