Description
Fire Pro Wrestling D official Spike edit version of...somebody. Full stats, full moveset, full logic. Everything comes from the Fire Pro Wrestling D Dreamcast game. Just one costume because that's all that the Spike edits came with.

I don't know who it's supposed to be but I'm pretty sure that it's based on a real person. He's from Japan. Born 7 Septemeber 1975 so was about 26 when FPD came out. That would be a fairly young wrestler to include in the game.

The edit uses Steve Williams' head but that was probably just chosen because it was a similar hair and beard to whoever this is based on.

He has "vicious" fight style and return style which is unusual. The only other Fire Pro character I'm aware of who has that style is Antonio Inoki.

Finisher is some kind of backdrop. He has a lot of suplexes. Nothing really stands out.

I'll attach pictures of his Fire Pro name and nickname. If somebody can translate those, that might help.

I assume that it's not a fictional edit because the fictional edits for FPD look ridiculous. They use the anime head and the duck head and are brightly coloured and it's obvious that these are fake edits. But this is a normal-looking guy. And he's in an edit pack that only had, as far as I'm aware, edits based either on real people or (in one or two examples) on video game characters.

So if anyone can help identify this guy, let me know.

yeah his nickname is just "burning spirit"

I'm pretty sure he's fictional. The only post I found addressing his origin was also listing a few fictional characters. No idea if he was like a mascot or made by one of the editors or a member of the magazine staff or a contest or what, but.... yeah, looks like he was an intentionally low-key fictional character.

I saw exactly ONE mention of him as part of a news blurb referring to a Dorimaga wrestling league called "GWP" but it didn't go into detail, didn't mention him in the article itself, and I can't find anything else on GWP.

Yeah, that's really helpful. I appreciate the detective work.

When I did a translation with an app, I got "windmill; wind, air, style, manner" for the name, which I assumed was wrong, but I guess not. For the nickname, I got "phosphorous, to burn, to get fired up" which could just be a reference to Fire Pro.

I don't think it will help but the other people in the pack were: Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Akira Shoji, Steve Wright, Barry Windham (possibly), Wolf from Virtua Fighter, Valentijn Overeem, Vanderlei Da Silva. and a mystery video game or anime character.

sorry for spamming replies, I found two references to this guy on the internet. Kazaguruma Riron seems to be the name (though I suppose I could check for alternate readings, if I remember how), whoever he is he apparently has some relation to the defunct gaming magazine "Dorimaga", according to a 2ch post from 2001.

I'll see if I can find any other message board posts about this guy, I have no idea how to navigate these 2ch archives.

(The other one was a mention in a news article from 2004 about Yuke's "Online Pro Wrestling", which doesn't check out in the timeline.)

who else was on this save? I might be able to dig something up with some of that info. Doubt it but, eh.

his name (風車 理論 / Kazaguruma Riron?) translates to "Windmill Theory," which is a theory espoused by Antonio Inoki about selling and realism. I couldn't figure out his nickname (it's "soul of" something) because I'm not actually good at Japanese and couldn't read the first character clearly enough to look it up.

I don't know if that helps, but it DOES make me lean towards either a fictional edit or someone HOPELESSLY obscure (like a go-nowhere Inoki prospect or something)

Based on the 9/7 date of birth, it's Molly Holly. Yeah, I got nothing.

Maybe it's just one of the developers.
